Transfer times

my last gun was 1 day, my newest one has taken 10 days!!! still not down. what the :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: is the point of all this dam waiting, transfer names, make up a new reg # and give me my dam gun! with the LGR dead, times should be cut in half!

ON - dealer transfer 1-3 days average excluding weekends, and holidays. Private transfer is hit and miss. 1 week to 4 weeks
AB - one of the fastest as posted. Dealer transfers 1 - 24 hrs, private transfers is also hit and miss as the rest
BC - longest....
Rest of Canada - hit and miss

I'm sure the huge upswing in firearm sales in the USA is also mirrored here... I was told 3 weeks for an Ontario transfer, 3-6 weeks for BC. Just have to wait.

If I buy from store 2 days. When I transferred a restricted to someone else...took over 1 month!!! I called them and the guy there said it was sitting there with no concerns on it, and he couldn't explain why no one worked on it. After that call, took a few days.

It's been all over the place for me here in BC. My R-15 rifle took about 4 days. My M&P 9mm took about 10 (I was expecting a delay though because I bought it at a big sale. The guy behind the counter told me they'd already sold over 100 pistols that morning to it was going to take longer than normal.) My .22 Beretta pistol took over 2 weeks.

P&D in Alberta submitted the transfer on Friday, approved Monday by the Ontario CFO. I don't know if collector status facilitates the quicker transfer time than some on here have experienced.

I was told in ontario by the CFO that they are backed up on private transfers and they are currently working on the beginning of November transfers, so as it stands for me there is 5 weeks of transfers ahead of me so the good news is by the time I get my 1911 it should be spring
Next purchase will definitely be from a dealer so I can have it the same day

Agree. At least your money not burning somebody's pocket till you wait for your gun :)

I'll give that a try tomorrow and see what happens...I'll report back yay or nay on it.

**EDIT** They would not complete my transfer on the spot. However, the lady did correct an issue with my wifes RPAL (name misspelled).

I went to the BC CFO office and they approved it on the spot again.

If you are in Quebec i believe it takes about 3 months judging from the fact it is almost going to be 5 months i am waiting for my RPAL lol

I just called again...my transfer started on the first week of December and I was just told It should be completed on the second or third week of January so that would put me at 7 weeks hahaha what a joke
