Troy PAR

It is faily obvious this rifle isnt a AR15. However it dosnt matter really what parts it has the same as a AR or what parts it doesn't when it comes to classification here. When determining whether this is a AR15 variant the RCMP will be looking at Troy itself to see how they are marketing it. If Troy is marketing it as a pump action AR15 then it will be labelled a variant and therefor restricted.

Troy is however labeling it and calling it a pump action sporting rifle. Which bodes well for it being non restricted. However most reviews on the web keep calling it a pump action AR15 which kinda sucks for its cause.

A couple on armslist for ~$1000

$1099 is the msrp

No mention of ar15 magazines on their website.

RCMP will probably ruled the magazines for this rifle a 'dual purpose' and prevent the magazines from coming into Canada.

Depends on if they fit into an AR15 or not.... If they do? we're toast as far as I know.

If they really are a "unique" magazine? Then there will be no mag cap on them. UNLESS they are stupid and come out with a pump action pistol that uses the same mag :X but I don't think they are dumb enough to do that!

Totally not true. The S&W 15-22 is an AR Variant. The upper will drop on to an existing ar lower from what I understand.
No, actually the upper from a S&W M&P 15-22 will not fit an AR lower, but the RCMP classified it as an AR variant anyway, which is the point I was trying to make. The only interchangeable parts are the trigger group, buttstock and pistol grip.

:agree: the M&P 15-22 upper is not interchangeable with an AR lower.

Can you tell me in which situation(s) these would have the advantage over the semi-auto AR (or really, any other semi-auto black rifle, restricted or non-restricted).
.

it's already been posted, but since you choose to ignore it, it can be said again.. IN STATES WHERE YOU CAN'T HAVE A SEMI AUTO. but the person wants/likes the AR look.

The more guns in Canada the better for gun owners, regardless of if you want it or not. Personally, I like the NR, 5.56mm, unlimited mag cap option. The proprietary mags and pump action aren't things I'm crazy about, so instead I'd buy a Mini 14 of a Kel Tec SU-16 or a Tavor (Which I'm actually doing), but why would any gun owner would be against bringing new firearms in Canada bewilders me.

I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat especially if they are available in different chambering like 450 Bushmaster or 50 Beuwulf.

I made a point of handling the Troy PAR at the SHOT show last month. I was really impressed with it and without doubt will buy one if they are NR. The folding stock is really slick too. Restricted will make them pretty much useless up here. The rep at Troy was aware of our classification challenges and was hopeful as well for favorable FRT decision.
