I love arguments like this. Especially because they show how little historical knowledge the poster has. For started time and time again we have seen that traditional armies cannot compete in 4GW. They cannot utilize all their resources as the targets are usually unknown and the battles are very lucid. Traditional warfare yes 4GW nah.

Second, tell that to the rice farmers of Vietnam, the goat farmers of Afghanistan and the ISIS boys of Iraq. Yawn.

Standing Armies have a hell of a time with A symmetrical theatre.

The Canadian military only stands at about 100k total including reserves, theres 2.2 million firearms owners.

Would be a quick war.

C'mon, you can totally pacify a 10-million square kilometre nation of 36 million people with 85 Bell CH-146 Griffons and 76 CF-18s... Lol.

I would argue that Canada isn't even prepared for a major earthquake, tsunami or other major disaster, given our lack of lift capability.

Anyway... Everyone go buy more ARs...

Both you and the RK99 are making the mistake in assuming that there would ever be violent conflict.

When it comes to a game of resisting confiscation, Canadian gun owners would not need to take up arms against the government. They would need to simply hide their guns and shrug, the politicians would flinch, police would hurriedly make themselves look busy and the military would just stand there with a confused look, blinking at each other.

2-3 million Canadians never bothered with licenses under the firearms act. The Government did nothing.
400-600 THOUSAND restricted and prohibited firearms were never registered under the firearms act. The Government did nothing.
This has been known for 20 years, and through multiple liberal and conservative governments, they continue to do nothing, and pretend it doesn't even exist.
Compliance with the Quebec Registry is less than 25%. The government is doing nothing, and no one is even talking about it.

History shows that gun owners can safely ignore any undesirable legislation with near impunity. All this talk of Canadians going to war against our own police and military is unnecessary and embarrassing.

Edit: Look at NZ. They will take the loss, declare it a win, and move on to the next thing.

another is the standard capacity 10/22 mags.
 
What gets me is how they spew "facts" about reducing "gun related" injuries or deaths in countries with strict gun control efforts, but fail to mention any offsetting rise in injuries or deaths caused by other means.

They so clearly refer to stopping "gun related violence", but not violence in general.

To me the real argument is that if we consider a world of tomorrow without a single gun in existence, would that world be free of violence, or would violence simply exist by other means?

I would fully expect stabbings and beatings to rise in the absence of firearms.
 
What are the odds the Liberals will release their definition of “assault rifle” including rifles that will be banned and the costing of it all before the election? Less than zero.

Maybe if the true cost of attempting to seize a million or two rifles that have been legally owned for decades is shown to the public it will provide SOME pushback. I figure it’s easily over a Billion.

Mayor of London England, Sadiq Khan wants to ban certain types of knives within London city limits and suggested putting GPS tracking devices in larger chef type knife handles as knife crime in his city was reported as epedemic last year with well over 40,000 cases of violent knife crimes reported. The patients are certainly running the asylum..... this is getting retarded folks. Why can’t these idiot politicians realize banning anything doesn’t work. Usually just makes matters worse. Look at prohibition of the 1930’s with alcohol... how did that work out? Well... that is how the mafia took a foothold in North America and made a fortune running illegal alcohol. I don’t think may political types did well in history while in high school.....but did excel in Drama... that’s for sure ��

fWhen politicians who are willing to confiscate citizens legally obtained property in order to distract from other issues in order to get elected really says something about the state of our country and where it’s headed.... SAD!
