Two cartridges for hunting Canada

If I had to choose a 'light' and a 'heavy' I'd be a .243 Win. and a .338 Win.

If I had to choose a 'light', 'medium, 'and a 'heavy' I'd be a .223, 270, and 338

I read an article in American Rifleman where the writer said if he could only have two calibers, what would they be? His choice was the 308 win and the 338 win mag. I've got both of them and yes, they are good choices but ----
Since this is personal choice, my favorites are -- 30-06 sprg. and 375 H&H

But, if I had a choice of only one -- it would be -- 300 H&H mag

I am amazed at how many folks are picking overlapping choices for cartridges . You would think that a light flat shooting varmint or crossover cartridge makes the most sence(222,223,22-250 243 etc) and then another that is capable of taking pretty much all the other big game(270 and up) . Are people choosing what they would think would be the most usefull or thier favourites?
I am guessing this is for centerfire so i chose the 223 and the 375 H&H but if were to be 2 rifles period then i would have to change my vote for 22lr and the 375H&H.

I just re read the part that said big game. so i guess i am back at 223 and 375 H&H

I chose from what I have, but remember that he did say "big game", so here in Alberta, that throws my .223 and 22-250 out of the running. Which is not a bad thing as if they were legal, I still would have picked my .270WSM

I've already got my two choices in the safe. :) The 6.5x55 and the 9.3x62 pretty much cover the bases. With good handloads a person would be set for anything from moose to squirrel. (Look out Rocky and Bullwinkle! :D) Although there may better choices, the 9.3 should be fine for grizzlies (unless you make a habit of kicking them in the 'nads first! ;) )

I find it strange that no one picked the 22lr. Probably the best meat getter ever made.
