Two cartridges for hunting Canada

If i had to choose from what i have on hand, 280 and 338 Win Mag.
If i was choosing from what is available, i would keep the 280, and maybe, but only maybe, step the big bore up to a 358 STA or a 375 UltraMag (if your gonna go big, just lean into that recoil and grin!!!)

I've been thinking about this lately, and even discussed it with Bartell the other night. I think my choice for a light cartridge would be the 6.5 wsm, and for the heavy I'd go a .338 win.

That F'n 30-06 pisses me off. It's too flexible and as soons as I got one, I got rid of it. I need to own more than one gun. 30-06 POS anyways :D

Two would be a a light 6.5X55, 7X57, 308, etc or something in that arwea.
The heavy would be 45/70, 338, 375H&H, or something there.
They all work, I don't have a preferance!
You could actually do everything ( and it has been done) with 30'06, 7mm mag, 300 mag, etc.

You would think that a light flat shooting varmint or crossover cartridge makes the most sence(222,223,22-250 243 etc) and then another that is capable of taking pretty much all the other big game(270 and up).
That's why I went with the 257Roberts & 35 Whelen.

30-06 and .375 H&H.

The big guy for scary things with teeth and claws, the 06 for everything else. Both have similar ballistics and manageable recoil.

I have these two calibers in the same platform - BRNO 600 and 602. No need to fumble with safeties or any other operations.

With the cheap .303 ammo gone, I'd rather go to the 30-06, more ammo selection, more bullet weights, better ballistics, non-rimmed case etc, etc.

But yes, like most Canadians, I have a .303 in the safe (LE No.5).
