Two more sleeps till my new actions come in.

I pick mine up tomorrow, I want my gun man......hehehe. One more night of work. Be interesting to see how my stockc feels compaired to the McM.

Now I just need to get to the range...

That machine looks pretty pimp. We're definitely going to have to get out maybe Friday to shoot if you have time.

I was looking at my previous post regarding velocity with varget powder and I made a mistake on the amount of powder I was running to get to 2893fps. I was actually burning 46.5gr of Varget with the 175gr SMK. I'm probably going to go up another 1/4 or 1/2gr and see what it does while also shooting a couple of groups that show great promise now that I have a bi-pod mounted on the front of my gun.

Apparently we got an invite to Bisley as well but maybe next year since I just found out it's not that expensive to get there. Take lots of pics Longshot, and kick some ass over there.

With a 1:10 twist, 21 3/4" Rock Creek barrel, this gun is amazingly balanced. I equipped it with an 8-32x56 NPR1. I figured more power is always better anyways, I just had to shoot it before it goes out for paint. I was testing 175gr and 190gr SMK with varget and BLC-2. Overall bullet length was set for AI mags and found no signs of pressure with the 175gr and Varget at 45.5gr with a velocity of 2893fps.
No signs of excess pressure with a 175smk at 2900fps outta 22" barrel? Is this a 300 win mag?

No 300WM. Just a tightly cut chamber on a 308. I treated the barrel with Gun Juice also. I think I'm close to the top of my loads though but I want to shoot it again this weekend and finalize what I'm going to be running in this gun. My shooting partner got his gun together today too and he wants to try the Hornady 208gr out of his 308. THat should be interesting.

My Obermeyer chambered Gaillard will spit the primer out before 2900. Running 175smk's, 45.5gr is the danger limit and it shoots better with 44.5gr at 2725 anyways. That load and speed sounds more in line with running 155's.

It might have something to do with the 1:10twist bbl but at 46.5gr of Varget I'm approaching the top. After this weekend, I'll have pics of targets and brass especially the primers.

My 175 gr SMKs & 178 gr AMAX's run at the 2720 fps mark with 44.5 grs of Varget. at 45.0 grs with the 178 AMAX bullets, primers were starting to flatten..............

I use a AMTU Contour McPhee 26.5" 1 in 11.3" twist stainless barrel chambered and assembled by the late Ron March..........

Mike, it sounds like we both have the same "sweet" spot in our tubes.............;)

SKBY.

These Mike Rock 5R 1:10 twists are doing things that few others have ever witnessed then. I'll know more after this weekend.

I think it also has to do with what kind of "juice" your giving it to drink...hehe. Never forget the ltr and factory ammo the last time we went out with the crono.
