Forgot to mention i managed to mod a gen 3 pmag to work and it runs flawless no bolt hold open.
is there any way the mag release could be changed or modified so you wouldnt have to modify the mags? or is it a different issue altogether?

These should all be doable (except maybe the side rail, and where the safety is located) but I'm hoping someone makes a dustcover rail thats hinged on where the rear sight would be.
Kind of like a Krebs custom rail or something (but then again no more iron sights)
Why doesn't someone just make a mirrored side rail where it attaches to the right? Or am I missing something?
These 7.62 x 39 rifles are not MOA sporting rifles. They are MOM (Minute Of Man) battle rifles.
Here is how I have zeroed my SKS, VZ58 and will do the same with my Type 81:
Spray paint a black 9.84 inch by 13.77 inch square on a torso style cardboard target.
Set the 9.84” by 13.77” target at 100 meters (not yards). At 100 meters the type 81 front site post will completely fill the 9.84” wide square. If the from site post is the same width as the square target you will know you are at 100 meters.
Too sight in at a 100 meter zero your rear leaf needs to be set at 300 meters (3). Forget MOA with this platform and think MOM, align the front sight post with the bottom edge of the 9.84” square (the waist or belt line).
You are aiming for the waist (bottom of black square) but your POI should be 9.84” (or 10”) above the waist. Yes, you should be hitting about 10 inches above your POA.
**Important: Now that your zeroed in commie style set your rear leaf to 100 meters and your point POI and POA will be the same at 100 meters.**
If you want to use the battle setting at 100, 200 or 300 meters set the rear leaf all the way back, aim at the belt/waist line and you will be shooting at 9.84 or 10 inches above your POA which is a center mass Minute Of Man hit, that is what this type of rifle was designed to do.
These are MOM battle rifles not MOA sporting rifles.
Hit a 10” by 10” gong at 100 meters and the rifle is doing what it was built for: Center Mass shots (don’t be obsessed with tight little groups / thats what your AR is for).
In battle mode aim at the waist, hit somewhere between the chest ands the neck.
These rifles are machetes not scalpels.
It's that simple
Benched mine with a front and rear rest Friday and i was horrible at the start as the sights and stock take awhile to get used to .
Shooting to zero the rifle i started getting the groups down .
Two hours of adjusting etc. my best group was 2.5 inches at 100m with check ammo.
Four other groups were 2.7 to 4 inches.
Soft point mfs was 4 inches.
It is zeroed fairly well now and i was bouncing off the 400m gong about 80 percent 20 inch gong.
This is by no means an accuracy report just what i was finding.
I will bench it again after i shoot it more and get used to the rifle and skinny up the front post .
The trigger is pretty good.
Have fun out there these rifles are pretty interesting.
Anybody got any pics with their SKSs and VZ58s? would love to see some family portraits.
I have a vz58 with beechwood furniture and will take pics when I get the T81.It'll be like brothers from different mothers.
Well yeah.. 12 moa. For me center of the blur and try and center in the other blur
Geez...
How do you like your vz58? Is it the tactical version with telescoping stock? 223 or 7.62?

I guess I should have read that better...
Get in the way of charging handle and possibly ejection?
