He's not saying it's a bad choice, just that he struggled with being forced to make an uninformed choice, without being able to handle either one.

I'm 90% sure the attaching system is different between fixed and folding stocks unfortunately.

I went with fixed myself for my order

Same. The Chinese style side folders are my favorite actually so it was an easy choice for me.

It may not be. Effectively a gamble as there are no first-hand accounts of which will be better in practise.

There are pics of both types in service, but after a short while, the PLA switched production to all folders. Presumably it was more versatile.

Alex who was with TFB seems to really like the folding stock on his Type 81. Larry Vickers also commented that the folding stock is very solid and doesn't abrade your cheek like some other folding stocks. He says it's one of the best folding stocks he's worked with.

So hopefully folding is a good choice, after all, the Chinese army started with the fixed stock and switched over to the folder.

That was one of my big worries and why I purchased the fixed stock as well, just to hedge my bets.

Didn't help me with Vz, had to attach a foamie with a duct tape like some kind of Bubba.
