Type 81 another importer

Does anyone of you have one for sale? Preferably a "straight" fixed stock model haha

I note that Tactical Imports is sold out of both types, yet still ran an ad for them in this month's issue of Calibre magazine...?

Cheers
John

Keep an eye out on Tenda site. Their usually sold out but from week to week they seem to get one or the other in. I wanted a fixed stock as well but settled on a folder as a few came up on their site. Of course the next day the folders were sold out but they had fixed in stock for a day lol just my luck. They just bumped up the fixed version by $50 as well.

They are made according to chinese military specifications, watch the AK videos on youtubes "Military Arms Channel" or join an American AK forum and you will see that the coveted Type 56 (AK) imported into the USA have the same unique characteristics... They are 100 percent in spec according to their issue standards and that make them very unique.

Also, $1000 is hardly expensive for a non restrict military rifle in Canada...

The only difference between the fix and the folder is the rear trunnion and back so how come the folder has severe bend while the fix does not?

It wouldnt be difficult to remedy this, just build them all as fix and afterward swap out the rear trunnion. Problem solve, lol.

So much rationalizing in this thread. The Canadian type 81 is a steaming turd. One of the worst guns ever made. That being said, I still think they're kinda cool.

They only made the one run for TI off a military contract last year. Ti just brought them in it separate shipments as I understand. No one else is getting them in. My folder is fine and they are sheet metal guns, type 56 aks ect are not perfectly straight either. Just enjoy the 5 mos battle rifle it is

Does any one that has no issue with their folder and tell others to accept/enjoy their bent bcos that's how the AK was made would like trade theirs, please let us know.

my recently purchased type 81 was also corkscrewed. We as humans can distinguish a straight line from a wavy one fairly easy just by eye sight. If it’s out by eye sight there’s really no reason to pull out the micrometers and straight edges. I deal with fine measurements on a daily bases being in the automotive field so I have come to pick up imperfections with ease. I knew mine would be bent before I ordered it. I have yet to see anything mass produced come out of China without flaws. Their tolerances and workmanship aren’t those of us North Americans or Europeans. I see it daily with automotive parts and their failure rate in the aftermarket world. I tend to not buy anything made in China for this exact reason, but I really wanted an “AK” looking rifle and the type 81 was the only option. It is what it is, mine was a newer version and still twisted lol. All I can do is disassemble it this winter and re machine the parts to make it straight. Still shoots straight as I can hit targets at 200 yards open sights. After all it is just a spray and pray rifle haha. But yea I can see how we get upset since we would expect a straight rifle for $1000 plus taxes, I do anyway. Still baffles me how a company doesn’t take any pride in their workmanship for their products that is destined for civilians. For me this rifle will never be a showpiece or collector, it just a hungry beast that eats up the stock piles of old surplus ammo haha. Enjoy your type 81’s, nobody will know it’s twisted till you tell them or they own it.

I too ordered mine knowing that it might come bent - and so she came, bent. Like Lugerman though I'm just as satisfied with this spray and pray stamper; I liken the experience to buying ripped jeans back in the day. C'mon, we all did at one point lol.

And really, even if the rifle did come straight, you likely won't do much better anyways; a Type 81 is inherently inaccurate. Just wished we could have hi caps so I can lay down some real suppressing fire on them deer in AB!

" Your not successful at proving any sort of point here Im afraid. "

I'm not the one who's supposed to be proving a point. You are.

You claim that the receivers are bent.
The way to prove that is with picture of the receiver against a straight edge.

(Ask your boss tomorrow if I am correct.)

Pfft, c'mon, photoshopped lines on poor quality pics are the way to check, second only to using deckboards as a visual reference

Ah just take them out and have fun with them guys

Exactly.

They are commie bullet hoses. Mine is a fixed stock, and about as straight as a TYPE 81 gets.Guess what? It's still not very accurate. If I wanted accurate I would have bought something else that is half the price. :)

I tell people who want to try it that it's not very accurate, so they may as well shoot it fast and get some giggles. :)

I think lots of people are still confusing a $1000 rifle with a rifle that costs $1000 ;)

I have to agree.. The trained human eye can be quite accuarett. crooked is crooked
I'm starting to think these imported guns are factory rejects from the military contract...

I originally thought so to, but then I saw MAC,s video on the type 56 ak variants and him reflecting on how they were bent as well.
