Almost everything that TI sells as the "exclusive" dealer...within a year or so other retailers sell it at 1/2 to 2/3 the price.

I just can't see myself parting with my money to support a retailer that I do not feel supported its customers when it mattered most.

That being said...hats off to TI for once again being first at bringing another cool item our way. Keep it up.

lol, you slapped TI in the face with that comment, then tipped your hat too them :kickInTheNuts: talk about bipolar.

Be warned... been sipping the good stuff while thinking about committing to a Type 81.

I agree with you entirely. There does seem to exist a type of group-think within these walls. You're with us or against us. Black or white. At times, maybe something gets lost in translation. I don't understand where the dissension of opinion gets so vitriol.

Threads tend to quickly erode, but I don't think this has been one of them. Some good info here.

Although I am squarely in the 'undecided' camp, I applaud everyone who has brought the Type 81 to our market. The more options and choices we have in this political climate, the better. We all win, regardless of whether it's a firearm that's going to end up in our collection.

What's frustrating right now is the value of firearms within the Canadian market. I paid under $600 for a brand new Austrian Glock 17 from one of CGN sponsors a little over 2 or 3 years ago. Now I see prices for close to $1000, with a recent dual tone model running for over $1200.00. Insane. Is Glock a good pistol? Absolutely. Is it $1200 good? No way.

Not picking on Glock here either. Looking at the contents of my safe, with only a few exceptions, almost everything is trading for more than what I purchased it for.

And I this isn't necessarily a good thing. In fact, this is what colours my hesitation toward the Type 81.

Another huge part of the problem is with our current ####e dollar. Today the Canadian peso is trading at 76 cents on the US dollar. A few short months ago, considering our current political situation, this seemed unobtainable within the short term. But here we are. At the rate and direction it's going, it's no longer unreasonable to think that by the time TI's Type 81 delivers, there will be more options trading at different prices.

I'm a repeat TI customer, and as you've said, Nick has always been great to speak with. But I don't quite pickup what TI is putting down with regards to this. As the dollar climbs, it's easy to imagine more options available at more fair-market prices. It does seem limiting within our free-market to corner yourself into any one choice.

To have a crystal ball! But therein lies the point; none of us do. Come 2017, might be sitting here wishing I bought another $600 Glock 17.

If someone decide to take the plunge, most awesome. Should be a ####e ton of fun and a fantastic way to burn through our 7.62x39 stores.

Ultimately I will be patient to see how this plays out, and continue to collect info and first hand accounts.

Because there's always a deal to be made, and personal justification is a fascinating thing.

PS - after some research and considering this thread, I think the fixed stock is the way to go! (sorry bfiles, don't have the budget for 2 - gonna need to feed the beast!).

Very much looking forward to the continued conversation.

Hardly Sparky. lol But seeing that the sense of entitlement is high tonight and I'm not looking for an argument partner; I'll break it down for you.

One can commend a retailer for being avant garde and bringing in the goods ahead of everyone else. They deserve that as they have proven it time and time again.
One can also state as fact that they have on many occasion touted exclusivity only to find the same products months later by other retailers at much better pricing.
These are two separate facets of a business that can be looked at as separate acts.
I like a few others am a past TI customer; purchasing one of the original UTAS pieces only to have it malfunction and be left cold without support. I also had the
Famae SAF and SAF 2000 and as my mags slowly fell apart, TI offered me (and others like me) no support. My originally purchased Famae SG542? Higher than should
have been pricing.
So I speak as a customer, spender and on the multiple parts of a business. I don't know you so I don't get the insult and really...what does it matter.

Very agreeable, BUT one thing a person always needs to consider, how long are you willing to wait in order to buy a product for what youd consider, is a fair price ???????? I personally have been waiting on our dollar for the right time to buy a M1A National Match... Not many years ago, it appears they were selling for just alittle over $2000, but now, their going for around $2800+ dollars, by waiting for the right time, I could potentially save myself $500+ dollars! but the catch being, ive been waiting for going on 3 years now ! every year I add is another year that I have spent wishing I had an M1A; AN m14'less year of my life that I'll never GET BACK :( , at some point, I need to ask myself, is it worth the $500+ dollars ?

I wonder if anyone has any pics (from above) of a field stripped Type 81. I haven't found one yet. How about one TI?
Google BD-08. Plenty to find of Larry Vickers collection piece.
in reply to both of you, I found this thread, nice pics, seen those before via google image search, but then I noticed the last post on that page regarding the magazines....have a look
ht tp://www.military-quotes.com/forum/assault-rifle-bangladesh-army-t91845.html

This rifle will replace the sks/archangel setup. Does look similar.
Except the pistol grip is actually attached to the receiver, and is closer to the center of balance. I once tried an SKS in an aftermarket stock, and it felt awful, the pistol grip is too far to the rear (behind the receiver, actually), so it did not balance well, it was very front heavy, and the mags are cumbersome to change. I can reload an SKS faster via stripper clips with the original magazine...if it's about looks, it's still not even in the same category, the SKS receiver is designed to sit inside of a stock with no pistol grip...

mmmhmmm, I was really hoping for a blued fixed stock just like that...oh well.

Not sure if srs or trolling but; No LMG on first run from TI, but who knows what the future holds.
You mean, not sure if trolling, or 10 year old...read his/her recent posts...lol

Bendeco, I sincerely apologize if you're legitimately intellectually disabled (PC?)

The folder looks like the one that came on my Type 84 - if it's the same stock, it's very good. Superior in every way to the under folder on my Type 56. The fixed stock looks cool too, though - decisions, decisions.

That was the debate I was in but the way I look at it is that if I end up being unhappy with the folding stock -either someone may have the same feeling about their stock (maybe they have a fixed and you have a folder) or aftermarket stocks will become an option sooner or later.

that would be a shame...two of the same rifle not being able to interchange stocks, would be VERY strange, and downright disappointing.

I could be wrong, but the mounting bracket looks different.

The VZ is very unique in allowing the stocks to be swapped so easily.

AK's are not known to have stocks that easily interchange.

That Type 56 side folder stock cannot be removed and a wood one added.
