Type 81 Owners Corner !

Lol generally I'd agree but I inspected the rifle further and the hand dremeled bolt matched with the lack of bluing remaining on the rails leads me to believe she was problematic. So they made adjustments till she would fire and shipped her out

My buddies Norinco AK has a lot of little grind marks like that,I was kinda surprised to see it actually, not really uncommon I guess.

That t81 must have been made by the same shop class that made my first m305 lol
Sorry to see, hope everything is resolved to your satisfaction

The nicest export Chinese guns I've ever seen, are the older EM322 and NS522 22lr rifles. They are not perfect...few tool marks, but they are much closer to N/A quality then anything else I've seen. Not the Scorpio 322 type abortion NS brought in recently, it's normal Chinese work.
Mostly it's WWII Russian Mosin equivalent machine work we get to see.
Still better then Marstar's T2 Garands lol.

I'm hoping to exchange the rifle for one that's not got a dremeled bolt, bluing stripped from rails, no wood glue patch on handguard and with all rivets properly flushed with the receiver before I worry about that lol

Wood glue patch on handguard? I have a dot on mine as well and I've seen a few others with it. I wonder if it had something to do with the maching process for the lower handguard. And for the record, my bolt and carrier are not ground like the pics you shared.

Yea my hole is filled with wood glue or putty it extends out of the handguard like a mole.

I think I just got one that caused problems in the factory so I'm hoping for am exchange since it's a brand new firearm. Small details like the handguard don't bug me but the metal being hit with a rotary tool that's not even machined smooth is a bit annoying

Can you post a pic of the handguard for me?

It wouldn't bother me one bit if the bolt wasn't so janky but a new rifle shouldn't have out of spec parts dremeled to work

Bluing stripped off parts of rails from what I assume was testfiring while grinding a bit of bolt at a time. It's bare steel in a few contact points and I haven't even cycled the action yet

I can only #### the bolt less than halfway back when mag is not inserted, that can't be normal. Lower front hand guard seems to be to short and does not fit flush with the front of the receiver. Compared to the Type 56 rifles I sold in the 1990's, these rifles are quite inferior in quality.

Yikes.
Some of the machining I'm seeing on these is rough even by Norinco standards :S
Looks like they machined some of the parts with a fackin' potato or something lol

To be fair, the only machining I've seen that's truly unacceptable is Adams bolt that has been obviously ground down with some sort of dremel like rotary tool. Any other minor flaws are to be expected from a mass produced combloc military rifle.

Agreed. A few flaws are to be expected.. when cosmetic it's no biggie
