Mine is obvious just by looking at it.
Front sights could be off. Mine are.
The only thing that matters is the straightness of the barrel and the trunnion, that's where sights are. Receiver can be off, a little, and it usually is, on stamped steel guns.
Have you measured it and how? How much is it actually off?
I agree with Blackvoid that a slight bit of misalignment won't hurt anything and is probably pretty normal. I suspect that if you were able to inspect the ones accepted into the Chinese military you would find a lot aren't perfect either. Just a theory.

I should try the string method tonight..... A Photoshop line already proves mines bent, but the string method would eliminate any optical parralax, I'll take the dust cover off as well this time.
I clamped the receiver to my 4' level (with 1/2" blocks front and back, took several measurements with calipers from the level up to the rifle. Then flipped the rifle and clamped on the other side.
Compare the measurements and you know. The most deviation I had was 0.030" at any given spot.
Sounds like a good method. I'll try that tonight and see what shows up that way
If you aren't sure if it's bent it's probably not bent enough to matter. Just look down the rifle and unless it looks like a boomerang just shoot it
Call it a tactical bend if it helps you be more comfortable with it
This is what I did as well. Worked good.
Update #2: Been shooting this rifle a fair bit. Just crossed 800 rounds without a hiccup last night.
A few updated observations,
- Trigger is now like petting a puppy. Smooth!
- No malfunctions. Feeds like a champ.
- Nothing has loosened or fallen off
- Hits a 10" gong at 300m about 80% of the time kneeling/ standing in rapid fire. Increases to 100% when prone and with slow considered fire. Man sized target hits out to 300m are becoming boring.
- With a bit of practice, it is now VERY quick to bring on target and points very naturally. Feels balanced in the hands.
- Need a bipod as currently using the magazine as a monopod when prone.
- Does not get very dirty with the non-corrosive stuff.
- Only detraction: The upper hand guard paint has started peeling off. Apparently it's blued (but a bit scrubbed) underneath so not sure why they bothered with paint unless they refurbished the metal part of the hand guard.
Now need to find more non-corrosive ammo for it as i don't feel like running corrosive through it just yet. Any deals y'all aware of ?

I'm not worried about it and if mine is bent it isn't enough to affect the function. I'm just seeing that a lot of people are worried and maybe for no reason. Like I said, mine appears bent but from my measurements is actually straight. I'm wondering if this isn't the same case as some other people saying they have a bent rifle.
I am just looking for ideas for a simple and accurate way of measuring that most people could do at home to determine the actual extent of the "bend".
From what I've seen posted so far some do appear to off quite a bit and maybe out of spec (whatever that is) while others might not be that bad and maybe considered normal.
How much off was yours using this method?

On my fixed only the piece next to the wood is paint. The rest is blued.
If you have to keep looking at it to see if it's bent it's probably fine.
If you see it you will know straight away if it's bent.

Glad to hear your's is running well after 800 rounds.
Mine will probably never see non corrosive ammo, lol. It's so easy to pull apart I don't even mind having to clean it after each session.
That peeling paint is just a great excuse to do some touch ups and add some color, or just ignore it and keep shooting. I was considering buying the Arma-coat home kit and experimenting with this rifle.
Smooth as petting a puppy, reminds me of the guy at work who put some new insoles in his boots before shutdown and described it as having kitten slippers
I finally received my folder today. Original order in march 2016 was folder with 2 extra mags. Since then i added an extra 6 plus bonus. What i actually got today was a type 81 corner shot with 3 factory mags and 8 ghost mags. But seriously the rifle is horribly bent and came with 3 mags. What a gong show this has been. I am beyond frustrated at this point.

It has about 150 rounds of non corrosive through it right now. I've only shot it at 100m and if the sights are lined up correctly, the bullet hits the gong. Just like the SKS, the real limiting factor in accuracy with this rifle will be the issue sights, especially for my almost 50 year old eyes. If I was serious about really shooting this rifle I would get one of the quad rails to attach an optic to it for super tacticoolness.
Maybe I will stretch it out to 300m tomorrow, if nothing else, this bullet hose is pretty fun to shoot. Just wish I had more mags- or even better, they held 20 rounds instead of 5!
