its a hopped up sks for 999$ if it was 500$ I would have bought one.

Sure, and a $2000 Cooper is a hopped up cooey64. They are both .22's, right?
Grip is longer than VZ, just big enough for my hands. I'd say in between AK and VZ.

Looks sweet, thats for sure...... that bar across the top of the rear sight looks super obnoxious though... what is its purpose ? When u shoot it, be sure to note what angle the ejection pattern is... that dust cover doesnt really seem to cover the top of the chamber area, unless u find the ejection angle really low; this gun isnt looking more optic friendly than the SKS or VZ.
Will do. I actually noticed a version with a side receiver mounted Russian style rail... maybe a future option? Who knows. The bar over the notch (according to someone I am currently talking to in the Chinese army) is a grenade launching sight. He said they rarely use it, rather most just put tape over it to shade the rear sight. Here's a pic he sent me of that:

hmmmmm im thinking a Dremel may solve that problem for me real quick then haha....... Thats how I plan to scope this thing..... I will utilize either an SVD mount, or a AK mount depending on its receiver height.

TI has had the Type 81 mags pinned very well! Not visible like those large ugly rivets.
It has been "loved" by many PLA soldiers.
Tooling marks are ###y getting excited. I’m glad I got the 81-1 but I really do wish it had dark wood like the military 81s. It’s not a big deal as the orange/ blonde wood gives it a traditional 80s bad guy AK look. I’d refinish the wood but the folding cheek piece is Bakelite, would look weird

Ya for sure, I think I might weather mine a bit. We will have to see how the production rifles actually look
