Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

I woudve loved to have put a PK01 on my Type 81, but I can only find them in AK configuration; not the SVD configuration that I need.

I have a PKA optic on my type 81 now, and it accompanies the rifle quite well, except the damn wire connection inside the optic keeps coming loose. Need to take it apart and blue loctite the little bolt that holds the contacts together.

My Kobra just came in! :) going to be attaching the side mount this weekend

i would love to put a siderail on my t81 maybe also a muzzle break, any preferred parts set from a retailer or a tech in Ontario? I would love to mount my 1p29,or any future optics I am looking at like the obzor(1p63) and the 1p78 kashtan.

A side rail, low magnification optic and a muzzle brake make the type 81 a pretty slick shooting, lead lobbing NATO trembling setup. Only mod left for me is creating a AKM lower hand guard.

To bad thats only 90 rounds.... lol... or 3 mags in a free country.

But if SHTF those rivets will fall out no problem :)

M1A2 rifle grenade there are on sale in 15$ us is it legal to buy and crossborder or any sponsor sell those?
will it fit on type 81?

thank.

it will fit your type 81 and yugo sks 59/66 cos its for a standard 22mm spigot.

for US$27 you could buy a full size rubber head rifle grenade from service of supply but they wont ship it due to paper work required (iirc).

Almost done with the mods! Shoutout to Dave from hical.ca for showing me how they did their T81 for the Zhukov to fit. Took an afternoon but pretty straight forward. My goal was to "modernize" the rifle but with proper methods so it can be a SHTF rifle and not just for the range.

- Magpul AK MOE+ grip
- Magpul Zhukov U handguard
- removed wood panel from top handguard and trimmed to fit the Magpul lower handguard
- refinished bolt carrier with black PVD/DLC

The handguard mounts the way it should on an AK and is rock solid. No shims or washers needed like with the vz58. The top handguard steel portion clears the magpul barrel clamps by 5mm, and the piston spring clears them by 2mm.

Need to do:

- mount an aluminum rail to the skeleton top handguard. I talked to a local smith and he thinks he can countersink some bolts to tighten it down good. I bought a picatinny rail meant for shotgun receivers with some curve to the bottom, so it'll mate with the top handguard steel pretty well.

-paracord the folder stock
