Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

When you pop off the grenade launcher barrel, how hard it is to put it back on?
I'm thinking of getting a fake can or one of Sigmaco's threaded barrel once it comes back on stock but I'd also like to be able to put it back

Would it sit tight like it was before removing or would it be looser/easy to slip on/off?

It's completely dependent on your rifle. I can't even get mine off, broke two pullers already. I was thinking of cutting it through the middle and just cracking it off...

Ohh...that's not good...people in the videos made it look so easy LOL
I guess I'll pick up a couple of pullers and give it a go with the expectation that it probably won't be coming back on

3bar got the plate only option; no bolts and no throw safety available right now and no mention if it's ever been re-stocked.

Grabbed one and installed on the rifle. TI Kobra rail is a piece of junk compared to 3bard rail. I have 3 different mounts with different optics on them and they all fit very snug, no wobble whatsoever. Keeping the Kobra red dot, dumping the TI Kobra rail in the parts bin.

I took mine off this past weekend and it was pretty easy, the pin was actually a ##### because I don't have any proper tool to hammer it out but for the sleeve I just used a flat head screwdriver and a mallet.

The rail from Murray while it seems expensive, is a whole different ball game than the junk Heron rail from TI. Also much longer. It also sits a bit higher, so you can even mount the CSA VZ58 mount to it which literally shocked me, lol.

^yep, no more 4x20 scope for me, sits tight and sighted in already. Sold my Herron rail and the TI scope a few months ago on a hinch.

I got one too, but task now is to find pins or manufacture something similar to attach it to the rifle. If someone got dimensions for pins or Intel for restock from Murray would be greatly appreciated.

So who is Murray, where can this new rail be found, does it attach using the 'optic ready' pins, does it allow for a left-side safety, and what does it cost?

The only other rail available that I know of other than Tactical Imports is 3bardproductions. Not sure if that’s Murray but I’m guessing yes. It’s $120 dollars

The 2nd run is sold out already. It does attach to the pins and no, it does not allow for left hand safety.

^ that’s the first T81 with the Sigmaco that looks fantastic. Looks great with all the matching paint work, bravo!

Awesome, thanks. I have an optics-ready rifle for sale in the EE - if it doesn't sell soon I may just keep it and get one of these rails for it. Did I see it noted by someone that the old CSA Vz58 optic mounts will fit this rail?

Like liberally coated? I tried this with WD-40 and it didn't help. Will try the Kroil....

Unlike WD-40, Kroil is penetrating oil, so it is really good at creeping into between tightly connected parts.. so I dropped some at the pin area, then at the muzzle by the grenade launcher walls so it can get deep inside and also by it's rear end. And then left it for a day and added a few more drops next day. Rinse-repeat for three days to give it enough time to penetrate and it did it's job. Used that bearing puller tool from PA with minimal effort.

Yes, I mentioned it. It sits just above the dust cover, maybe 0.5 mm but it fits. It was a bit hard to get it on and some minor metal shaving but no biggy. I put it on and off a few times and it went smooth after that.
