Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

Holds up pretty well for corn-based plastic with a low melting point!

Getting it machined this saturday and then real testing can begin :cool: more updates to follow.

Manual BHO a work in progress, ignore it's chunky construction.

Where can I get that charging handle?

Where can I get that charging handle?

Charging handle extension is currently just my own (printed) prototype, but I'm getting a lot of DMs with support for this kind of stuff.

I'll definitely be moving forward to get this machined, and if it passes testing then I would definitely sell them.

I'm sure it would be fine, the printed version has already seen a few hundred rounds and will see a lot more this weekend when I test the machined handguard.

How much would some be willing to pay for an unfinished laminate Tabuk Sniper butt stock ?

Personally I would not be interested. The SVD butt stock looks much nicer - but harder to manufacture.

There is a company making VZ-58 adapters but they are MIA.

I think a AR-15 adapter would be perfect, lot's of choices for butt stocks. Many people will go for it and it would make the type 81 so much more attractive in general.

I have put the Zhukov shock and longer handguard on my LMG. I used rivets for the stock because the pins were interfering with the QD sling point screw. To turn the rivets black I used some scotchbrite and rubbed the heads of the rivets and applied Alumi black. The gun is heavy, not sure on exact weight.

Tried out the TI mount and a Kobra red dot. It is neat, but damn does it make me like modern red dots. I tried to zero it and couldn't figure it out while at the range so I will have to play around with it tomorrow.
