Thought I would give a range report after my first outing with my new LMG.
The accuracy was beyond my expectations. While tuning the sights at 50 yards I had groups within an inch every time. The rifle was hitting insanely low from the factory. The 500 yard setting was a bit low at 50 yards, so after many downward turns of the front post (with the included sight tool in the cleaning kit) I was putting all the rounds in the 2" bullseye. We then went on to plink some gongs from 40-150 yards with great results. My friend had his 1954 Tula sks out and there is no denying the type 81 feels better in the hands, has better accuracy and handles recoil much better. It shoots so smooth, I couldn't believe it. The barrel is definitely a bit heavy, but after removing the bipod and carrying handle it's not too bad to lug around and hold up freehand for shooting. The fit and finish of the wood furniture and bluing could be better, but the accuracy and feel more than made up for it. I only had this rifle in my possession for 24hrs before numbnuts announced the sweeping ban, but I would still strongy suggest buying one while you still can!! I'm going to buy another 1500 round crate and have some fun this winter while it's still "legal" to do so.
