Type 81 Sniper Rifle?

I wonder how many of those people asking for 7.62x54r actually have the money. Sounds like a broken record, I would but I won't because of the round. Never heard that BS before. Move on is all I can say.

I have ordered one as is, but would certainly prefer one that is chambered in a more authentic cartridge size for an SVD, but I'm aware of the limitations of the existing type 81 platform that currently has an frt, and I am confident that TI will introduce a .308/x54r sized rifle if they are able to get a sample and it passes muster for an FRT.

Until then there's not a lot of point in endless #####ing and moaning imo. TI already knows that any semi 308 sized rifle will sell like hotcakes due to the limited competition in the current Marketplace since 2020.

Since all we are allowed is "SVD at home" because real SVD's are prohib, I'm just happy to have something that scratches that itch even if the cartridge isn't completely accurate.

With a Romanianesque PSL upper and lower hand guard kinda thing going on. Although mostly aesthetic except for the lengthened gas system, optic and muzzle device options, good on TI for this tweaked version....nobody else seems to be doing jack sh!t toward this dreamed of and sought after niche. Wish they'd offer the rail as an option.........eh, Nick....whadda ya say?

I think it's neat... I had a LMG in mind (Tabuk style) and this popped-up on my email... sold.

Type 81 saw the number of conversions, looked at their LMG sales, and decided the role the dice that people would be interested in a factory version of the Type 81 in a combo of Tabuk DMR/SVD Light style. Given the internest in this forum, I would suggest the gamble will pay off.

I’m surprised it hasn’t sold out yet. I guess many invested money into an LMG for a “precision” build already. Glad I held-off. My methodology of patience has prevailed once again. Let’s just hope it shoots as good as it looks. My SKS needs a break.

People spent their money on the Special Editions. Only a handful of people on social media bothered to mod their LMGs into DMR like things. Im glad TI brought these to the market to satisfy the desire for so many who dont have the tools to craft their own similar styled rifles. I cant count how many emails ive gotten regarding custom wood furniture. Got tired of replying how expensive it would be to offer such things.

Honestly as much as I would like it for the look, I already have a T81 that will have an optics rail. And with how I am planning on tricking it out, it would functionally be just like the SR, if not more modular. At least that's what I tell myself to justify not getting one :p

I sold my last T-81 with drum mags and bayonet on Friday. They're a cool rifle but ended up just sitting in my safe. These new ones are nice but I'm going to see what shows up next.

Didn’t care much for my folder… it shot like crap. My SKS shot better so it wasn’t worth keeping it for the detachable mags and “the look”… plus, it wasn’t a good enough replacement for the Vz58 IMHO :(. Hopefully the SR will de-throne the mighty SKS in my safe.

I wonder how long it takes the Chinese to figure out a built-in optics rail is a good thing.
But, I guess, then expensive optics add-ons would no longer be necessary.
