Thanks manThe black bolt carrier looks sick (as the kids say)
I’ll be doing that.
Bluing wasn't as good as I've done before. This steel just wouldn't soak it in even after like 30 applications

Thats OK, I don't understand why people spend the money for an SKS that is a ca.70 yo design that struggles to maintain minute of pie plate "accuracy".
Lol. Little butthurt their buddy? Your 40 year old design type 81 isn't any more accurate than the sks you $hit on. Did you buy this model thinking that with a scope and SR designanation you were getting a "sniper rifle"? Haha. Have fun dic#ing around the hardware store trying to find solutions to not have your stock fall off. Oh, and if your $hitty fix holds up, watch the guy at the range next to you with the 1/5 priced sks group the same or better than you. Cheerio.
Got to love all the comparisons to the sks. The type 81 is completly different. Im willing to bet the guys saying it have never held a type 81
Well as simple as I wanted to makes this all I did in preventative measure was put a simple 1" brass wood screw thru the perfect fit hole just behind the recoil spring:

I'm more then confident now this will take any unnecessary stress or flex off of those 2 bottom roll pins.
Was this unnecessary, YES. Should we have to do anything like this, NO.
This was an oversight on TI and the designers. Nit their fault but hopefully everyone who purchased these rifles will
A) either get a replacement stock JIC
or
B) they have a remedy from the factory for all of us buyers.
Until then I'll continue to play with and use this rifle without any worry
Thats a good solution right there... i would swap that screw for a pan head one about 1/2 inch longer though
:+1 for knowing if we do the reinforcement screw if that will void any warranty for the stock failing.
No, however if doing mod it is advisable to pre-drill hole to avoid having the screw splitting any wood
I saw that in the main thread, they replied to someone asking about the SR designation and said it was a sporting rifle..... is suggested "screw required" but apparently they didn't appreciate the attempted humour....
It should be easy enough to improve the connection, but TI seems quite adamant that it's "factory milspec" and as good as it gets, or good enough from their extensive testing including drop testing it. They also claim that after shipping hundreds upon hundreds and only getting 2 failures in the first week or so is quite good.
A nutsert and low profile socket head cap screw might be another good solution, less than 1$. This is the first interesting T81 to me because of the longer gas system so hopefully the stock gets a rev. 2.A threaded ### bolt right through the stock with a flared end and the female part glued in place would be a good factory solution.
Is there any reason why they didn't or couldn't extend more meat for the tenon that slides into the receiver?

Sks is better.
I couldn't even focus on the type 81 sites because of that top bar and my astigmatism...
I found the ergonomics off as well.
only gun i have ever bought that i sold before i fired it.
I was looking at buy one of these because the stock looks a little bit longer and beefer to offset the front, especially without the heavy rifle grenade launcher.
