If they were approved, guaranteed one of the usual suspects would be peddling it for 5X what Norinco is selling it for. Bet on it.

Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if the RCMP determined this an AK variant and classified it as prohib. Guy in the video even refers to this rifle as an AK variant. That is probably all it will take for the determination. Oh well, hope I am wrong.
 
I don't know why, but this gun's never appealed to me in the slightest. Kinda looks like a combination of all of the worst visual components of an AK and SKS all crammed together. No thanks.

Actually he doesn't. He mentions he'd like the folder on an AK, and he notes certain features that are similar to the AK, but he never says it is an AK variant. He goes so far as to say it is different in many ways.

Having seen this video, now I really want one. The LMG version for sure with the bipod and original length barrel that makes it NR. The carbine shown has a 17.1 or so inch barrel. Norinco is already showing off a carbine with a Canadian NR legal barrel at trade shows.

Crossing my fingers that the lab gets this one right. But not holding my breath yet.
 
Looks like a pile of shyt and no mags to be had for it. IF we could have it, it would be 200% over what it's worth.

Let's just all get vz-58's and be happy with it (since it beats AK ANY DAY)

No mags to be had for it... In the USA. Trade embargo and all. And that is for the 223 version. The 7.62x39 military version will run on AK mags, but will not function the bolt hold open typically. (I know there is one version of AK mag that will, can't recall which country did that).

This isn't about beating the AK. Or the VZ. It is about options. I have a vz, I have a Valmet, I'm waiting with baited breath for my RPD, and I'm hoping for this. And the SKS still does it for me.

Prefer variety. Guns are cool.
