Type 81 Video

No mags to be had for it... In the USA. Trade embargo and all. And that is for the 223 version. The 7.62x39 military version will run on AK mags, but will not function the bolt hold open typically. (I know there is one version of AK mag that will, can't recall which country did that).

I believe it was the Yugoslavian variants which had the magazine followers which hold the bolt to the rear Sir.

I know the collector who has the other 2.

Knowing the importer's other offerings and what happened to their prices once there was competition, I would suggest preparing for a "shock and awe" over-pricing strategy.

Exhibit 1: the famae rifles have dropped from $2900 to $2300 in under a year (retail) despite a $30% decline in the dollar.

Exhibit 2: the Yugo scorpion smg's that have been on a "final production run" for what? 5+ years? Price is less than half what it started at now that Czech ones are available cheap.

So its an SKS dressed like an AK from the factory ?

I hope they bring them in for the gun community, but its all yours guys, I have enough SKSs

Closer to an SKS than an AK.. But based on your logic every piston gun would be a dressed up SKS

You should read my comment again I notice that we are saying the same thing : an SKS looking in a cosmetic way like an AK, nothing more was said.

No logic behind that, just a statement on how the thing looks.

And yes the more gun the better, I wouldnt mind getting one of the "tactical model"

Lol

I don't care what anyone says, I agree with you Sir.
There's "mark up" for the Canadian market and cost of business, I get that.
Then there's just plane price gouging. This guy won't play ball lol

Given that our holier than thou leader has said he'll let the RCMP categorize guns pretty much any way they want, without regard for reality I think it's a safe bet that the lab's strategy of foot dragging until he's in power has been successful. This is a gun that we probably won't see, unless the Chinese are willing to do something extreme, like sue the government for lost profits under a trade deal. Anyone got any connections with Norinco - they could pretty much destroy the lab and it's authority (which is sketchy at best, since it appears there are no qualifications or degrees involved in being an "RCMP firearms lab technical expert" - beyond being past retirement age, of course)

Tactical Imports posted on October 12, 2011 that they were looking at importing for FRT classification the Floro MK9 9mm, the Mendoza HM-3-S 9mm and the Type 81 7.62x39. They asked for feedback as to which of the three the CGN community had the most interest in. The Type 81 was the one, and that is the one they submitted for FRT examination.

They said the price range (in 2011) would be $999-$1249. They hoped to have it to the public by the fourth quarter of 2012 "at best".

So, assuming that meant submission for FRT was the winter of 2011, or spring of 2012.... we have been at the lab now with this one for exactly 4 years.

I hope it won't be a POS like the T97 I had.

And I wont be jumping on the bandwagon this time, Ill wait until the price levels out... lol...
