3k.. not a chance. I could see this gun selling for $1k under the RFB pricetag.. until then...

BUT they are also rare.. so this has to be taken into consideration

The Benelli MR1's were rare too and going for over 2000; brand new, they're going for under 1700 now just two years later.

Please do not say the MR1 is rare.. it is not! It's readily available over-the-counter at a number of retailers, easily imported, crafted for the civilian market, and mass produced. The cost is lowered because it doesn't sell. Even in the US, the last 50 or so on Gun Broker have been under $1000 BNIB.

Type 88 and MR1 are not even in the same ballpark when it comes to availability and rarity.

Apples and oranges...

if it is asking for $3,000 it'd better not named a "Norinco", call it something else. like an expensive Toyota car would call itself a "Lexus"....
anyways, does it have a picatinny rail?

Has anyone actually bought one of these? I know there are some that claim they have, I just find it hard to believe they haven't posted a single pic or a review.....

Why is everyone always bashing on this rifle? Just cause it's made in China, it doesn't mean it can't be worth more than $800.

Though norinco doesn't mean "can't be worth more than $800" I'll agree with most that the production cost of this rifle in china is probably something like $400 canadian... if it was chambered for the chinese cartidge and took original chinese mags then it might be worth 3000 as a collectable item, but a shooter that is "like" the original seems not very worth it, because it's just like a factory bubba

Dunno if production costs are relevant since it probably costs $5 to make an SKS, but maybe... $5 marked up to $100+ vs $400 marked up to 3k?

To me, this is a mystery bag, and until we can get some solid reviews on it, I don't think anyone here can say what it's really worth.

Norinco cost of product is about known if an importer charges $3000 he is just taking advantage of the market. let him bring in the first batch at 3k other importers will bring in the same rifle at 800-1k and out sell him and make more money.

some dealer's sales strategy is few sales high profit such is the case with the 3k Norinco while others have a different strategy reasonable profit high sales. Which one of these dealers would you like to purchase from someone who will take you to the cleaners because they do not want to bother servicing more than a handful of customers or another who is trying to bring you reasonably priced products? your choice

This is an $800 item at most anything more is a waste.

At $3000 we are being taken to the cleaners. Someone is trying to take advantage of us

Norinco's reputation is such that no matter what they produce it's only worth $800.

We realized this wouldn't be a huge seller, which is why we only brought 10 units in. We realize that even if we can supply a handful of collectors they'll be grateful to have the chance to purchase something they couldn't get anywhere else, which is the whole reason we started this business in the first place.

This rifle would be pretty popular if we could sell it for $1000 and we would sell many units. Unfortunately that is not the reality we live in. Pricing is set by the manufactururs and unfortunately this rifle package (including scope, bi-pod, mount and 3 mags) is expensive for us to purchase. If anyone thinks we're gouging the market feel free to email Norinco and ask for a price quote on 10 units. You'll see your landed costs are well over $2000 per unit.
