Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

Anyone given any thought to "leaking" this story to the media in such a way to portray the RCMP and the CFC as raging incompetent idiots?

After all, an "800 scary, "high powered, military assault weapons" seized by customs" story is made all the more interesting for the Canadian Sheeple when you can add a spin that "the RCMP initially approved the import of said "high powered, military assault weapons" to be sold by licensed, law-abiding gun shops but decided to make up their own laws and screw over two reputable small businesses."

I think it is a sign of how weak their position is that they haven't gone to press on this one.

Going to the press is the last thing we want.

Keep in mind that before things went bad, at least a dozen people here stated they wanted the type 97 "for no other reason then the fact that it will scare liberals". This has kind of come back to haunt us. Showing a picture of this rifle in a newspaper will do FAR more harm then good.

The general public don't seem to care about firearm facts or laws. Anything we say would be brushed aside by a flood of letters to the editor congratulating the RCMP "for keeping this scary black machine gun off the streets".

I have a deposit on one of these as well, and like everyone else here I am hoping for a positive outcome. But at this point I am willing to let the professionals settle these legal issues behind closed doors without any public drama.

I admit - I was one of those folks - and I guess taken out of context (as such a sentiment would be by the Liberal news media), that could be quite damning. The real context being that liberals are scared of us regardless of what we do.

what we say matters little. These people in high places have an agenda. Their goal is total civilian disarmament. Do not think for one second it starts and ends with the type 97.

I recently had a meeting with my MP in which I discussed this and many other firearms issues...I encourage all of you who haven't yet written letters or called your MP to get off your asses, quit #####ing here on CGN, and start #####ing to someone who is paid to listen to you and represent your interests...this is the only way to fix anything quickly...phone your MP's office and make an appointment.

Ok Cool. What did he say then? Would be good to know.

Considering they'd call my .22 bolt action a "super-sniper rifle with high-powered target scope", they can't have anything positive to say about us, ever. :jerkit:

My MP is CPC and pro-gun, anti-registration. He wasn't aware of the issue despite the three letters I wrote him over the last four months because his staff forwarded them all to Peter Van Loan's office. !!!THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE TO MEET WITH YOUR MP!!! Once I briefed him on the issues face-to-face he was committed to finding out what the RCMP "decision" was and why CBSA is still sitting on the shipment, especially considering that this was a previously approved gun. He will keep me posted as information becomes available, which I will post here. HOWEVER EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME. Do not wait for me...if everyone does the same we will send a clear message that this is an important issue that should be dealt with now.
