Poachers who are armed criminals, ignore these signs anyway, and for the highway department to flash signs asking the general puplic to report and observe these armed criminals are therefore out of their mind, by asking the general puplic to endanger themself by going in potential harms way, by "observing" an armed criminal, while that criminal is doing his crime. What next ? "Observe" and report armed drug dealer ? "Observer" and report armed bank robbers ? etc

OK, how many poacher do you know of ?
There are several that have been caught/charged around our area recenly, including one that was basiclaly operating a butcher shop in his basement.
The CO's are in regular contact without our club members, and often ask for assistance in keeping our eyes and ears alert for poaching activity. A few years ago, Several of our club members observed suspected poachers and attempted to blockade the road until the RCMP or CO could arrive, but the poacher manage d to sneak past. Members of our club keep the local CO's informed the best we can, at every opportunity.
How many drunk drivers do you know of ?
How many drug dealer/user do you know ?
Witout doubt, the numbers of drunk drivers, drug dealer/users far outnumber poacher, as well as costing our society far more money and greif.
However, you will never see any highway signs flashing, and requesting the general public in gettiing into action to report drug dealers![]()
I'm sure there are quite a few drunks and dealers, but that is a RCMP mater, not MOE or CO. If the RCMP wanted to post signs that said "report drunks" I am fine with that.
To the British Columbia Highway Department, any person with a gun is a moron that should be reported.
I keep saying this, but you are either lacking in comprehension skills, or are deliberatly being obtuse. THE BC HIGHWAYS DEPT HAS NOTHING TO DO WIHT THE MESSAGES BEING DISPLAYED ON THE FLASHING SIGNS OR THE REGULAR SIGNS. BC HIGHWAYS HAS NO POLICY REGARDING POACHERS.
The MOE and the CO service as well as BCWF and many F&G clubs throughout the province have installed these signs and requested that highways flash the message on thier signs. These signs are ENCOURAGED by hunters, so the general public knows WHO TO CALL.
The only time I have experienced anyone calling RCMP/CO for "illegal" activity and "poaching" were false, and were only directed to harass legal and licensed hunters.
Yeah, lets make policy because "snowhunter" from CGN has only had false reports.
NEWSFLASH: Most calls to police end up getting settled with some conversation, observation and discussion, rather than dramatic arrests.![]()
i haven't seen too many thugs slingin crack on the side of the highway, but i have seen similar billboards in cities...a more appropriate place where the dealers are more likely to be found. However, you will never see any highway signs flashing, and requesting the general public in gettiing into action to report drug dealers

Is'nt blocking a public road vigilantism ? One armed group try stop another armed person/group from passing ? Sounds dangerous for all involved. If this continues in the Pemberton are, somebody will be shot one day.
Sounds like another good reasons for people not becomming new hunters.
as well as there appears to so many poachers in British Columbia, that it is nesessary to have flasihing signs on the highways, asking the general public to "Observe" and turn in these armed criminals ?
Why do police cars have 9-1-1 on them. Is that not to encrouagement for people to call the police?

I know of one CO who disappeared while "observing" a poacher. Was'nt it in New Brunswick that poachers beat up unarmed CO's a number of years ago ? There is also a good reasons for that British Columbia CO's were armed with handguns and provided a bullet proof west.
