Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Why are people so reluctant to ship out restricteds to new owners as being "Loaned" while the transfer is completed.

People sell NR guns all the time based on just having a PAL number supplied and they get mailed out the same day or handed over in a parking lot with no CFO Involvement

Because if anything ever happens, that restricted is still registered to the seller. Unless you know each other very well, not worth the risk

So say you start a transfer, lend him your restricted, but then he cancels the transaction what next? Restricted firearms aren't leaving my possession until it's no longer registered to me. Too easy for something to go wrong.
Complaint with the ombudsman filed. Pending approval since the 23rd of march

Email i received this morning from the CFO.

"we are working on March 18-19 2020 - and your processing date is on March 24, 2020 so, it should not be much longer."

Lol....BS

it is taking them a week to complete a days worth of transfers. You are at min 3 weeks away.
File a complaint with the Ontario ombudsman’s office. Takes 5 mins, online form.

bought pistol from Bullseye March 17..still nothing..V:I:got reference number from transaction.Gave it to a friend who has a connection at the CFO's office and we'll see what happens now.

Why would you bother calling when people from mid March still haven't been processed? Submit a complaint instead.

Because it took 5 minutes to get an update. I don't think submitting a complaint will get anyone further ahead.

In the past when I have called and asked for an update somehow my transfers were approved within a week. Maybe it's coincidice?

Ok, well you go ahead and wait until the end of June for your transfers.

I know taking the 5 mins to file a complaint with the Ontario ombudsman’s office is difficult considering you already wasted 5 precious mins calling the CFO’s office for an update.

Finally received my transfer completion notice a couple of hours ago today for a pistol transfer that was initiated on March 19, exactly 17 days after I received my last transfer notice that was initiated on March 18. That means it took them 17 days to progress from March 18 to 19.

Good luck to you all.

Queue the guy that says " don't you know that there is a pandemic happening". Lol. This is a case of pure incompetence. A broken system.

It must be because of the pandemic
