Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

I received an email from the CFO office yesterday saying that a transfer started May 11 has been approved. What the heck? Ten days for an approval and I have a few that were submitted before this one. This was an Ontario to Ontario one but I do have another inter province one submitted on April 30. I can't find any rhyme or reason to the order.

Happy for you but that’s a kick in the nuts for a lot of people

I've made two inter-provincial transfers in the time I've been waiting for my one Ontario purchase from March 12th. Does anybody know exactly what it takes to do a transfer and what they are looking for? It can't be that complicated.

Called CFO and they said that they are working on March 19-20 right now. Said they are going to be adding more people on shifts as of this week (Tuesday).

I don't know what to believe anymore.

How is it possible that some folks are still waiting from March 12 and others already have theirs from May 11? Makes no sense.

FWIW I got mine this week from one initiated on March 19. BC to ON. This seems to match their Mar19-20 claim.

It could possibly be because retailer sale vs private sale?

I've always found restricted I bought from a retailer was usually a week or two faster than my private transfers in the last couple of years. Longest I've ever waited was 5 weeks though lol.

guess there is more than one officer doing transfers. i have a March 20th done 2 days ago but my March 8th transfer is still pending. processing speed maybe depends on different officer

My March 12th purchase was from a retailer and the other two were private sale. The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that this process keeps my fellow Canadians safe from legal gun owners following the proper rules and procedures.

Sorry wasnt sure cause the store was in Ont.

Either Way my notice was just left for me to go pick it up tomorrow

Yeah Alberta residents have nothing to worry about. Any delay you encounter is most likely due to retailer processing time. The CFP transfer delay and the thread is only for transfers from anywhere TO Ontario.
