Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

So now you have wait 5-6 months to get your pistol, you have to wait another 2 months before you can take it to the range to shoot it???
Total Ontario BS!!!

The registration certificates are printed and sent out by the RCMP in Miramachi, not the CFO and take 10-15 business days from the date of the transfer approval.

59340xx June 13 to Oct 28 still waiting on a 59330xx. Looks like the rules changed. You need to wait for the registration certificate to take it to the range, the new approvals are only for initial pick up straight to your house.

**CFO Ontario is aligning with the practice of other CFOs regarding Transfer Notices. Effective Immediately Transfer Notifications’ purpose is to take possession of a newly acquired firearm after the transfer is completed, and does not serve as a temporary registration certificate. Subsequent movement of the firearm can only occur after receipt of the registration certificate.***

This always been a rule, transport regs make it very clear that pretty much all types of transport individuals can do is illegal without the certificate

So apparently the transfer notices used to act and was accepted as a temp certificate until the actual one arrived.

Since 2017 when I got into this hobby/lifestyle it has always been this way. No taking gun to range until registration arrives. Not sure why this is a shock.
