Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Gave a call to CFO regarding my restricted transfer (from Wolverine to Ontario) initiated on March 30, 2020. The answer was that my case is being reviewed by Firearms Registry in Ottawa. So far, the item I bought is still a restricted firearm in the latest version (May 26) of the FRT. So, I guess, I am screwed both ways - either they are thinking of changing the registry of that particular firearm to prohib in the near future or I am going to wait another 2 - 3 months until the bureaucrats in Ottawa get to my case. I wonder, can I ask Wolverine to cancel the order and refund the money at this point?

Hey all,
Been lurking here for a little bit. Just wanted to give an update for people, this thread helped me so may as well pass along information.

Business sale ON-ON, completed March 30th, just approved last night. Unfortunately shipped with Canada Post, but relieved things are moving along.

Sent off March 12th and approved today. If anyone knows exactly how much work it takes to do a transfer I'd love to know.

This one seems to have taken even longer than most as March 12 initiated transfers should have been completed weeks ago. Most folks are getting their end of March transfers now. Did you get the notice by email or snail mail? Canada Post could be a factor too if you didn’t ask for email notification.

Don’t know exactly how much work is involved but other provinces like BC, AB and SK often complete a transfer within 24 hours.

It was a retail sale. I just got the confirmation this morning that it was approved and my purchase was on the way.

Well..... Holy Sweet f$_&. Just got the email. March 26th to June 2nd. That's some seriously quick service.

You are entitled to due process in a timely manner. Case law supports that.

Depends how much you want it...

I have made a formal complaint to my MPP about the issue. I stated that in other provinces the transfers can be done in as little as a couple hours and 8 + weeks in Ontario is ludacris. I suggest either looking into the staffing issue if there is that much back log or outsourcing some of the transfers to another province to catch up on the back log

Outsourcing to other provinces makes tons of sense.. they definitely won't do that.

Pretty sure they don't care how long we wait for our firearms.
