Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Not sure if this helps but I'm actually waiting on a 60081xx with Aug 19 for the initiation date (according to what the dealer told me). I will reply to this once my approval comes through, confirming that the initiation date was in fact the 19th :)

For your reference, my transfer was initiated on Aug 22nd and the number is around 60070XX. The 81XX should be later than that or it doesn't matter? I just gave up on trying to rationalize this mess.

Interesting...yes you're right, it would be later than that. I guess mine was not initiated on the 19th after all.

Spoke to CFP on the phone today, relevant to another issue but I asked how the process transfer is working and why there is such a spread on transfers each day, as in transfers 10k ref numbers apart coming the same day.

She confirmed that the way transfers are initiated determine which department handles them. Example initiated over phone, web portals, business, private all determine which department handle them. Some larger dealers will have a larger queue, which cause delays for their transfers. That is why we see some transfers rolling in that should have been completed 2 weeks ago, they just get stuck in a longer queue.

Did you inquire as to why the refusal to complete batch transfers? Perhaps this is why- they have the purchases spread all over.

Can you just confirm the transfer number and initiation date are correct?

In most cases, people will only know for sure what day it was that they bought their gun and the transfer # (and what day the transfer # was provided). Depending on the business (and how busy they were), the transfer may have been started the day the gun was bought or some time later, and there may be a delay as well as when the transfer # was reported to the customer.

I thought people were saying that on the transfer complete email from CFO, it was stating the date of initiation?

Well in my case, I bought my gun on Aug 9th. The store was busy and the transfer document said Aug 15th, so I'd say the one from the document is accurate.

For reference, it was 59980XX, Aug.15 to Jan.27, Ontario B2P.
Patiently waiting for my Aug.19 Ontarip B2P. Anytime now.

For a FYI I have a 60053xx that was confirmed be the CFO office to have been initiated August 19 by Wolverine.

Each of my transfer notice do have the date the transfer was initiated in the top right corner
Date is the date of approval
Date received is date initiated

Was this the CFP in Miramichi or the CFO office in Orillia you were talking to.

I checked my last P2P approval and B2P approval. On the P2P the seller initiated the transfer on August 17 and sent me an email with the transfer number but to late in the day for me for me to call and verify my part. I called the next day but did not get through until 3PM. In the Transfer Notification PDF, attached to the approval email, it shows the current date and the Date Received: August 18, 2023. That would be the date the CFO received the transfer request from the CFP.
On my last B2P which I purchased August 8 the Date Received was August 8, 2023 so initiation date and the date received are the same in this case.

I’m 6055### which was on the last day before the ban. I guess that means there’s only about 50,000 transfers ahead of me. Trudumb was one hell of a salesman last year.

For sure he was one hell of a firearms salesman.

I got a few in the 6055 range, received my RPAL 10 days before the freeze and went on a shopping spree, really lucky that way. Hopefully luckier when OICs are all repealed.

Ahhhhh, yes, that makes sense. It does say on the transfer notification the date that the transfer application was received by the CFO - I wasn't thinking of that. Looking at some of the reports in here of transfer numbers and dates they were initiated, when there are ones that don't seem to fit the dates/numbers of the rest of them, it might be because that date on the notification is not being used by the person reporting.

Eh Idea Listen up!
We need to know (WHO!! not real name). if it’s a CGNer and what is the last handgun sold in Canada!
Is this possible?
Then we all can go Vote next election!

Well, I have one transfer that was initiated by snail mail late in the evening of the 20th, in the mailbox on the 20th. Unfortunately I predated the form for the 21st, and unbeknownst to me, that's when the freeze took place.
Initially there was a lot of speculation as to when the actual freeze would happen, was it end of business on the 21st, at 12.01 a.m. on the 21st...anyhow, if mine gets transfered, it has to be one of the last ones?

It's reference number is 60583**

Could it be possible that the last handgun sold in Canada was already approved? I would think that the buyer was in BC
