Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

My transfert as been completed the march 20th. Alberta to Ontario. I dont really know what I should expect for the approval at the moment.

Do you have any idea?
I will let you know when I got an answer.

I would anticipate that you'll be waiting at least a month.

Good to know they are still
Working. I started a transfer in Ontario the second week of March. Hoping it’s not going to be months! I’m not really in the mood to call and ask, they are busy enough.

I started 3 during the second week of March... 2 are done and waiting on the 3rd, so it shouldn't be too much longer for you.

Thanks Calahan, this will be my first restricted transfer, I understand i'll get a new license card with att attached to it? or will i get another notification when its complete?

Guess I’m not the only one left in limbo... I made my first restricted purchase second week in March when everything went upside down. It’s been three full weeks, hopefully I’ll get a call soon.

All of this conjecture as to what's happening inside the Ontario CFO, and it goes round and round the same issue every time someone opens a thread about it.

The thing that surprises me is that nobody ever knows someone who actually works at the Ontario CFO who can give a straight answer from the inside. There are a lot of people on CGN, you'd think that somebody would know somebody.

The transfer notification is usually mailed.

Would it help if all Ontarians sent an email to Doug Ford's office making him aware of this delay situation?

Yes, it will help immensely. I am sure Fords people would forget about trying to secure much needed medical supplies to ensure you get the gun you can't use in a timely manner.

Seriously, how did you manage to get approved for an RPAL in the first place?

For sure. And it doesn't help that if two people called and asked the same question, they'd probably get two different answers.

I'd suspect that if there is anyone on CGN who is on the inside (or knows someone who is), they'd probably keep a low profile about it.

Oh? I was under the assumption it was a phone call. I’ll keep an eye out in my mailbox, thanks for the heads up.

By default, they will snail-mail the notification to you. IF you ask them (they usually won't ask you) to be notified by email, they will often (but not always) email you the notification.

Called the CFO in Ontario yesterday and they said that they are currently processing March 13th for retail purchases and March 10th for private purchases. They also said that transfers are not their priority at the moment, public safety is; whatever the hell that means.

I hate this province and don't get how AB can still do transfers in 2 days with COVID-19 going on.

I think they're lying to you about how far ahead they're working. I think they're dragging their heels because they're afraid of panic buying.

Ever heard the adage "strength in numbers"? A voice becomes hard to ignore when it gets loud, no matter the times. There are still other aspects of running a government. Sure 99% of it is COVID at the moment, but that doesn't mean his office can ignore a loud voice about something in his 1%.

As long as there's a Conversative at the helm, we should try to get these things resolved as much as possible. Because who knows what comes at the next election.

Oh, and to answer your dumb-as-#### question, last I checked, getting a PAL/RPAL via CFSC/CRFSC pertains to firearms and safety thereof. Not a persons political ideologies on leveraging a government's assistance to help with things.

Oye Beltalowda. You might be right. Especially considering similar (or lesser) staff counts in Alberta are still able to pump these out in 2-4 days as COVID ravages through the country.
