Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Got one approved today (April 17) from March 9. Still waiting for a second one that was also started on the 9th

Now we'll see how long the NB CFO takes to process the ATT request.......

Hey guys is there a thread on requirements for restricted purchases in Ontario. Does a silvercore gun club membership meet thier requirements to purchase a pistol? And what is the process? I already have my r pal. Thanks for any help

You don't need a range membership for restricteds in Ontario.

If you have your r pal buy a pistol and do the transfer. It's easy.

Silvercore gun club membership is fine although you don’t even need it. Gun club membership is optional in Ontario. All you need is your RPAL. If you buy from a store they will take care of everything and you don’t need to do anything. If you buy private then generally the steps are as the following:

1. Buyer pays seller
2. Seller calls the CFP to start the transfer and get a reference number
3. Buyer calls the CFP with the reference number to confirm the transfer
4. Seller/Buyer both wait, up to 6-8 weeks right now in Ontario it seems
5. Buyer gets the firearm from seller when the transfer completion notice is received via email or mail. Ask for email when you start/confirm the transfer as that will save a week. Canada Post is also very slow right now.

CFP number I always use is 1-800-731-4000.

Planning on taking your new acquisition down to the range that's closed?

It's a stripped receiver. So there'll be some DIY required before I can do anything with it, which would be a nice way to keep busy for a day or two, don't you think?

Nevermind the fact that it's always annoying to pay for something and then not have it - without even so much as an ETA.
