Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

It should be a automated process check. License valid? Yes/no RPAL? Yes/no - approved or denied. This bull#### that they are running a skeleton staff to click a button is just a excuse. Once everyone was set up to work from home they should be doing a thousand transfers per day. If my work from home productivity fell like theirs I would be fired. No excuses.

There’s no productivity in our government , never has and never will. The delayed process time is on purpose.

I had a long convo with one of the ladies today. Here is the summary:
1. They are understaffed and have only one person doing transfers per day; some days there are no transfers being doing due to answering phone calls
2. They are employees of the OPP that are hired by the RCMP to answer calls; not sure of the ones who do the transfers are RCMP
3. She asked me why people are buying guns at this time? I said it's like anything else, you see a good deal and you buy it.
4. I asked her why transfers can't be done from home? She said the systems don't allow them to connect (total garbage if you ask me)
5. They only do about 50 transfers a day per person (if there are 7000 right now, that is 140 business days!!!!!)

As mentioned above, there is reason that this can't be automated.

Horse crap

Every other province is doing transfers in a day....maybe two. Except PQ.

Why is Ontario running with one person doing transfers with a 7000 transfer backlog. What a joke.

My wife works in investment banking, they are all set up to work from home. They deal with a lot more sensitive information then whatever would be in CPIC. There is absolutely no excuse for not approving transfers.

Firewalls to prevent accessing cpic type stuff from home, not to mention lack of control over who is accessing that info on the home computer. I am good with that!

Having spent a couple of decades in the telecoms world, including providing the telephone and data networking equipment to the OPP, I can't agree more with Mattp's comment. There is NO excuse, other than pure lack of will and accountability to taxpayers. The OPP is, quite simply, enforcing their own internal desire to disarm the public through erecting an impenetrable administrative barrier. In short, the police are disobeying the order of the state, thus establishing with clarity that we are indeed living in a police state, where the police are not answerable to the public.

Staffing shouldn't be a problem, they're an essential service. I'm sitting in my office working right now, cry me a river. :)
I can't think of an occupation that's better suited to working from home than processing transfers anyway, except maybe web site development.

Webcam girl!

Webcam girl!!

Sorry. I had to.

Ironically, the CFO told me that they were prioritizing public safety issues instead of transfers during COVID-19. Seeing how bad the RCMP screwed up in NS, it really shows how incompetent they are.

Huh, I wonder what public safety issues they're having, especially with all the ranges closed. They should have the range inspectors working on transfers to clear the backlog.

I have not read the thread. I waited 28 days in N.B. and called my MLA. Transfer approved that day. I sold a .22LR HG to a member on here early April, he says he called in and it won't be approved till June some time.

I am just amazed that residents of Ont. are happy to let your government get away with this crap. I would be raising h3ll with my MLA than go higher than that.
