Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

You are incorrect, dealers are still managing to get guns and selling them.
I bought two recently, separated by two days and the ref # delta is around 1700 so about 860/day are still being sold across Canada as of 19 July.
Im willing to bet that after everything was bought up , numbers likely resemble sales prior to the announcement thus normalizing transfers . So again imo after they go through the bulk of those 6-7 days in June it should calm way down .

This whole situation reminds me of story my uncle told me many years ago, hope I do not gut it as english is not my first language :

There was a ruler in medieval time and he wanted to test the patience of his subjects. He asked his wise advisor to come up with an idea for his plan. Advisor said I have an idea, let's limit the access to wells and every family is only allowed to get one bucket of water at a time.

People lined up everyday with their bucket, filled up the bucket and carried it back home. In the monthly town hall meeting, the ruler asked if there were any complaints, and nobody complained.

Ruler went back to his advisor and asked if any other ideas, and he said how about to get a bucket of water they need to bend over and get f..ed in the a…. Ruler said great idea, let's do it.

People lined up again, pulled their pants down, and bent over before getting their water.

Next town hall ruler again asked, any complaints? After a minute of silence an old man raised his hand, and the ruler asked him to come forward and let him know what the issue is? The old man came forward and asked, can you please increase the number of people who f..k us so we do not have to stand in the line up for this long.

Has NOT been much new data, but here is an updated chart :

dealers have never not had guns for sale, guns keep magically appearing, found on back shelf, found in a box, silly stories,.
The distributors seem to be controlling the market now

It is a bit of a gamble if they don’t sell all their stock because then they’re left with unsalable inventory.

Paper transfers started the beginning of July; Buyer called, and have reference numbers, but no transfer notices yet.

Not sure why it takes so long. To me the process of transfer includes a CPIC check and then submitting the application to transfer the registration of the gun from the seller to the buyer. I saw a video once that said that there is a scan of every restricted firearm licence in CPIC daily to see if there is a yellow/red flag match.

I purchased a gun on May 25. It was transferred and registration changes applied for around June 21. I ordered a gun on May 31 and the transfer was applied for on June 2. Somewhere in that time period there was an overlap. I know situations etc change quickly but you would think that they could see that i had a transfer within a short period of time and that I had no flags in CPIC and that the transfer would be a pretty simple process.

5968### July 14 from Marstar. Also have one I'm still waiting on from June 3 from Cabela's but they never gave a reference number.

Finally got a hold of someone at Cabela's who knew what they were doing. Ref for the June 3rd buy is 5955###. They said my gun and lock are picked out and just waiting for the clearance from the CFO lol

It's called the Continuous Eligibility Screening Program. Every licence holder has a security check run on them every single day.

As for why the transfers are taking so long, a huge volume of transfers, and few staff to complete them. I was told there are just 2 people doing transfers in the Ontario CFO's office.

Looks like Cabela's took weeks to submit the transfer. If they did it June 3rd it would be way lower. Gonna be waiting a long time.

The amount of times the guys at the gun desk of Cabela's told me to buy from Tenda is hilarious.

I’m guessing Cabelas didn’t get your transfer into the system until around 28 Jun or so according to some of the stats guys are reporting. I wouldn’t be happy if it were me…
