Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Absolutely... NS CFO can approve the transfer in 5 days whereas ON CFO... if you just ordered you won't see your pistol in a year guaranteed or 100% money back...

Sometimes it's less than 24 hours. It has to do with volume. I cannot imagine there is no more then couple thousand restricted PAL holders here.

Ontario need more agents, even before all this, they were slow. It's been a problem that hasnt been fixed for years.

At this point I won't sell to anyone in Ontario. The transfer won't be approved by the date the regulation banning the approvals of transfers - October 4th - comes into effect.

It's your loss. BTW you're incorrect about transfers not being approved by that date.
They must be approved. It's in the current regulations.

Probably a good idea. Even though the transfer once initiated WILL go through you will not be able to finalize and ship sale until the transfer is completed and right now that would look well into 2023 before you are sure the sale is complete and you can ship the gun. Of course there are ways around it but you would have to know the other guy pretty well before you did it.

I won't as its money sitting in my bank account that I cannot use till the owner receives it. When ever that is. So I just stick to the maritimes.

I'm still waiting in Ontario for the papers on a purchase where I received the transfer number on May 1.

I wonder how many ontarioans die each year before they get their ownership papers after purchasing.

Im confused as there were posts from members who had been approved and their digits were in the 59###### for the middle of June but now were back at 58###xx for June 1st ? are they different for each province? at this rate I will not see anything until next August

Yes it's different for different provinces, each provinces CFO handles transfer to people residing in their own province.

It seems that the Ontario CFO office does not have proportionally as many staff as AB or NS does.

Any transfers in the system will be completed. The Ontario CFO has said this and there is case law stating this as well apparently.

Ummm... That sounds horribly wrong. As you know, Ontario is on June 1st transfers. Keep us posted what the heck happened to your May 1st transfer!

I put together a new chart based on your chart, I am using 100/day approval the current average so far:
