Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

BTW CSAAA will also have a booth at TACCOM (as will CSSA, CCFR, and NFA) and I will try to connect with them for an update

Still waiting on my transfer from June 2nd in Ontario 59148XX. Are you guys who are ordering handguns now not concerned that the government will stop all those transfers come October? I would not even bother honestly
yes but would be more concerned if I was a retailer who said refunds would be granted if transfer system was halted. To me I am only out a gun that might have been fun for a few weeks. They will be out hundreds of thousands of potential income.

This is one of the reasons I think it is so important that retailers put pressure on the government to streamline this process. No one is asking to bend the rules or jeopardize safety systems. Just set up a faster process.

And here is update for today:

Is the process faster if you're purchasing from a retailer in Ontario and having it transferred to Nova Scotia?

Hi,

The transfer is completed in the province of the buyer. If I understand correctly, you are in Nova Scotia. If you purchase from anywhere, the transfer is processed by the Nova Scotia CFO. From what I understand you will have a very short wait time and will not be affected by anything going on in this thread.

I’m only kind of joking when I say this - I believe you may have to wait longer for delivery than for transfer.

Hope this helps

It would be nice to temporarily set up shop in Nova Scotia. I could call the CFO and change my address and have my transfers approved over there. Then change my address back to Ontario🤔

Not true, I have one going to NB, started June 12.
Over 8 weeks so far.

It's my understanding according to the SK CFO, that Miramichi has to "release" the transfer before they can complete it? Maybe I'm wrong?

I have a strong suspicion we're in for a surprise in the next couple weeks. I don't possibly see a scenario where socks would miss the opportunity to gloat on national tv about how he stopped tens of thousands of transfers from being approved (however illegal it may be), for public safety of course. A$$hole.

can you imagine the uproar? if that happens tens of thousands of people will be forced to give refunds and while it might be ok for most dealers some have stated outright no refunds and the private sellers who sold because they needed money who cannot refund money WOW it will be a ship show

Re read what he said. Plus he quoted someone from NS, not you. He said the buyers CFO. So if I buy from BC the NS CFO would approve It. If a buyer from Ontario buys from me, Ontario CFO will approve. Yours is going to NB so the NB CFO will approve it.

Realize that 8 weeks is no where close to the 15 weeks that many of us in Ontario have been waiting. A NB transfer will happen shortly. If you do not have it completed and transferred after 15 weeks you can tell us we are all wrong but 8 weeks during this mess is nothing.
Plus I think you mean this was started July 12th. That would be 8 weeks. Not June.
June 12th was a Sunday and if you got the transfer # on June 12th that would be just over 12 weeks.

Got the call today to pick up my new gun this morning. Ordered from an Ontario gun store on May 31, 2022, in the late afternoon, so I assume the transfer wasn't initiated for a couple of business days after that.

Transfer number posted would help with the spreadsheet "Wolf" has going.

I bought on May 31, 2022, I assumed the transfer was initiated later than yours. Did you buy it in Tenda? I did. :(
