All they have to do is agree on a change to regulation on this meeting and get the governor general to sign it right? then no more transfer initiations (of handguns).
I believe if it passes committee then it goes back to the commons where it will get third reading and then goes to the senate for 3 readings before it gets assent. This can hapen in days or weeks depending on if it gets sent back to committee by the senate, unless they are creating and OIC regulatory change which can be passed by the minister sending it to the GG.
Agreed, it should have to go through the senate first and then goes to the Rez for the GG’s approval.

Yes I was talking about the regulatory change through an OIC. Dont see a reason for them to delay after specifically being embarrassed enough to throw in an import ban
Funny, I emailed them last night asking if they missed my transfer and the transfer was approved this morning.

That's what happened to me as well. No reply, just the approval.
Ironically that should speed up the approvals of existing transfers since the phone-ins would be greatly reduced.
The way I see it if they were going to do an OIC why didn't they just do it back on May 30 or in June before parliament shut down for recess? Unless there are considerable amendments to other parts of the bill coming out of committee, doing an OIC a few days before it goes through the senate etc makes no sense. If it looks like it gets out of committee with few amendments it will be less than a week before it gets assent.
