UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

I'm still leaning towards a riser rather than a whole site (with a proper 3/8 inch dovetail on top). That way guys can put what they want on it to any height they like. But he'll look at it and see what he comes up with.

This! :)

As I see from recent posts there are two problems
1) the front sight adjustment
2) when you spin #### it, you whack yourself in the forehead.

A couple days back I was reading about the London Riots, and these valiant young women who had armed themselves with that which their government had permitted.

While eating lunch I was watching the Red Green show (thank goodness for the CBC), when it struck me that there's a simple solution to both problems.

And I had the makings of an idea.

And with a little fiddling...

Ta Da!
Simple range adjustment,
and a safety for your forehead!

It also makes a handy stand. :)

I know what some of you are thinking: the RCMP will declare this to be an AR variant.
Pessimists.

As a guide I'm often tasked with keeping a watchful eye out for the safety of my customers. Fortunately I keep my Rossi Ranch Hand with Acqa-Force Toilet Plunger Attachment at the ready. On August 18th I experienced my 9th grizzly bear charge. He came out of nowhere but we could certainly hear him coming, and as he cleared the bush line into our camp I leveled my gun at him. Perplexed, he stopped in his tracks without my even firing a shot as he narrowed his focus on the Toilet Plunger Attachment. The grizzly then fell upon his back, clutched his stomach, and commenced to what we've since decided was laughing. Let me tell you the sound of a 1200 pound grizzly laughing itself to death is a sound that will haunt me till the end of my days, a sound that no human should have to experience, and one for which my customers from the big city are now seeking counseling. It just goes to show the awesome and terrible power of the Toilet Plunger Attachment.

Aqua-Force toilet plungers are available for homeowners, landlords, plumbers, and especially the professional hunter.

Steve says he'll ship to canada, i'm pretty damn sure skinner does too.

Just checking skinners site - 10 bucks to ship to Canada. So it would seem like no sweat.

And why the heck are you asking us boomer, call them direct to ask if you want a guaranteed answer for heaven's sake :)

DD - which model did you buy? How did you fit it to the rossi? Did you attach it at the rear by having it drilled and tapped or something?

I'm pretty sure it was the 5-LG-0001-5 model, made for the Rossi.

And yes, it was " attached at the rear by having it drilled and tapped"... by a 'smith.

It fits as far back as possible, about a paper sheet's thickness from the hammer.

.

I made one for my Henry .22 mare's leg as a prototype. It works. A company like Dlask could easily mass produce it. But I think that it may not be profitable to do so with so fee of these guns on the market

What I did is:

1) machine a 3/8 x 60 degree filler that is 1/4" proud of the top of the barrel and slightly tapered
2) drilled and tapped the filler for a single mounting screw
3) machined a base to match the contour of the barrel and the taper of the filler
4) cursed and sweared as I went through flubbed attempts 1 through 3
4) danced for joy when I finally got the damn thing able to mount straight!

Well the scout rails are already available. You guys can get them now. Any smith can drill and tap them to your guns cheap. If you want a custom little mini rail for the dove tail for a mini red dot or something, THAT would be a custom job.

Are you talking about the scout rail that Rossi makes for some of their guns?
If not what are you referring to and how much are they and where are they?

Perhaps something like this (red dot lazer under)

J-B Weld (i.e. 'glued') on.
