UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Was shooting 10 and 25 yards. I haven't measured the height difference of the front sights yet but it is taller. All of the front sights from Steve's are taller than stock.
The stock is a winchester 92 walnut semi-inlet stock from Boyd's. Just needed some fitting and finish.

I fond a Winchester semi inlet stock that will work till I get carving my own stock

My sisters kid loves the 44mag so I never go to shoot moor then 15 rounds haahaa the rotten kid blasted over 150 rounds

HAHA 1 reason I sold off my autos, kids seem to think those 10 round mags are alergic to ammo and must get it all out as fast as they can, and when Foxer brought his 44 ranch hand up at new years the kids made dam sure he just took home brass lol

We had fun but nex time I take him out im just bring the Henry 22 ML so I will save sum ammo haa haa
It is nice to see them off the dam video games

Hey Tallguy,

Thanks for posting the pics.

I'm so pleased to now know that ... when my Ranch Hand gets back from the gunsmith in Mission ... point-of-aim will be the same as point-of-impact.

I'm curious to know which rear sight the gunsmith will choose to be the "most-optimum" match-up to the Steve's Front Sight in his opinion ... the Steve's Low (which thanks to you we now know works just fine) or the Skinner's peepsight.

I said I'd pay for whatever ammo he blasts-away while he's experimenting :)

I'm also curious to learn what "Tune-Up" tricks he chooses to do from the many suggestions in the Steve's Gunz Rossi Tune-Up DVD that I sent along with the gun.

Thanks for the pics Tallguy,
It looks like the micro slide adjuster on the rear sight is almost fully lowered, but I guess a guy could file some of the bottom off (where the smaller notch is) if needed to get it lower.
It's a bit hard to tell for sure but the front sight bead looks a bit bigger then your rear sight notch....it would be pretty easy to dremmel out the notch if that's the case.

The micro slide on the rear sight can still be lowered quite a bit more, it is about in the middle of its adjustment.

Right on, it looks a bit twisted in there and seems to be sitting on the right side of the elevator. Did you adjust it at all? It looks like the screws seen a screwdriver.
How well does the large bead "sit" in the rear notch when you are aiming?

Yes I played with the slide to see how much it moved up and down. You're right its not straight, gotta fix that!

I have it set up so that I just place the front dot on the tip of the rear diamond. The front dot is bigger than the groove, there is also a smaller bead available but I chose the larger one for my old tired eyes!

Damn ...

Tall guy,

It's embarrassing for me to admit that I too didn't notice the "something is wrong here" aspect of your photos of the rear sight.

Kudos to the guy (Can-down) who finally did.

Which unfortunately means that all the chat/excitement ... especially/mostly mine :) ... about your Ranch Hand shooting to Point-of-Aim is (for now) invalid.

When something seems to be too good to be true ...

Anyways, please give us an update from the range when you have the rear sight all "squared away" and symmetrical. Don't sweat it ... it was an honest and easily-made oversight that happened in the excitement of a new firearm.

So we're back to Square One ...

As soon as I hear from Gary's offsite gunsmith who's working (with my sight options, among other things) on that little rifle, I'll be back here with the results ASAP.

Back to square one? Come on now give your head a shake, it's not friggen rocket science!

Square up the rear sight slide and adjust the front if needed, done.

I may be wrong here, but I believe that some CGN dude (Foxer?) is exploring that idea. Damn ... this is one slow process, eh?

Yeah - i've been waiting for my tang sight to show up so i can make a final decision which one i'm going to try.

I think the tang will be the easiest and most accurate, but I suspect it'll mean no one handed shooting. Should be fine with two hands which is how i use it most anyway, but not sure i want to give up the one hand option. I won't know for sure tho till i see the sight.

Ok ...

Yup. Right. Sounds like a plan.

(How do you plan to adjust the front if needed?)

Please keep us "in the loop" at that time.

If his sights were dead on as is.... he will need to drift either the front or rear sight a hair in it's dovetail to make up the difference.

Drift equals secure the barrel against something solid like a block of wood and then hit the sight with a hammer and a punch made of brass or hardwood.

It's not rocket surgery!

This is the peep I'd like to install but I will need a sight base to get the front sight up where it needs to be.....

Foxer I seem to recall dlask possibly building some sight bases or taller sights?
