Used batteries and stack of pennies as shotgun slugs ?

Hi,

What do you think of the idea of using used batteries as shotgun slugs ? I looked up diameters online and it seems AAA batteries are good fit for .410, and AA batteries are good fit for 20 or 24 gauge.

And what if you glue a stack of pennies together ? It should fit in 10 gauge barrrels. A stack of 10 pennies should give you a 360 grain slug, and if you file the diameter down by 0.6 mm it should fit in 12 gauge barrels. You have to glue them together, otherwise they'll start to fly apart as soon as they exit the barrel.

You have to reload your shotshells of course. Anyone want to try this ? I'd like to know the terminal ballistics of such slugs, and how many pennies you can recover in spendable shape from a dead deer.

Update:
It has been mentioned that batteries may crumble under pressure and block the barrel. See http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3958545&postcount=7

I found out that Canadian Currency Act outlaws using Canadian coins for any purpose other than as currency, but we can just use foreign coins. See http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4018466&postcount=162

I can only imagine the ramifications be hind hunting deer with a Durashell. Batteries have a toxic core so I would imagine they would count as a poisonous projectile which is not allowed. I would also think that some barrel damage may occur from such impromptu projectile as mentioned

If I shoot Duracell's out of my "shottie" will it void my Chi Com warranty? Will it affect the pattern of my "door breacher choke"? Will my bayonet survive?? Maybe I should use Energizers at least I may have a shot at a Bunny.

I can't believe this post got so many replies.. wow... If you have to stop to think about it, its probably a bad idea.

Remember a short while back the video of the guys reloading marbles to shoot in the basement?

Proves beyond a shadow of a a doubt you guys are chickenshìt.:stirthepot2:

I would like to take this oportunity to divert everyone's attention away from this god damn time vampire of a topic by introducing an even more controversial topic.

Here it goes:

DEADLIEST WARRIOR IS THE BEST SHOW ON TV AND IS THE MOST ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF HISTORY AS WELL AS MODERN MILITARY TACTICS.

*awaits CGN backlash

coins ??

remember: when shooting coins or CR123 batteries to use either an extra-full or turkey choke - youll need it to stabilize the flight since they dont have the ballistic coefficient of foster slugs.
:shotgun: :dancingbanana:

Well ,so far , I understand you can shoot "Bipolar Deer" with Double A batteries at close Range..Triple A batteries for long range...Good ! but I see that they are NOT selling Bipolar hunting licences this year, instead they opted to sell "ADHD" squirrel and MANIC MOOSE licences instead...bummer.:( Question.. Do the batteries have to be fully charged ??? And can I use pre 1965 coins??? Also... I see Cabellas has 3 3/4 frozen Turd magnums on sale for $1.25 a pound.:D
