USGI M1 Carbines - Which one do you own?

I HAD an Underwood ... years ago. I kick myself on a regular basis for the firearms that I had and sold because I wanted to try something different!

I HAD a Rockola, which had no accessories. Being naive, I was duped into trading the bare naked Rockola for a fully kitted Inland, not realizing the relative scarcity of the former over the latter.

Still got it, fired it just last summer.

I want one. Sure, I may have a Mini 14 (Basically an ER (Extended Range) M1 carbine), but the M1 in itself sounds interesting...

I should clarify my comment, I am looking for a Japanese made Howa M1 Carbine. (Already have one made by General Motors).

One on the EE right now. Posted a few weeks ago but bumped a few days ago. $725 the shipping. Looks pretty nice.

I'm happy so far with my plainfield, just need to get some serious range time with it first.
All the fun of a USGI at half the price.

I have a universal ok its not usgi but at least it looks the part ,

when i got it she looked like this ,

Question... why would anyone wish to own a rifle incapable of taking out, I quote, "heavily clothed Vietnamese soldiers". The caliber from my understand was substandard, the rifle prone to jams and the gas system subjected to bad fouling. Please correct me if wrong on any count, I'm here to learn not challenge.

Thanks,
Drachenblut

I believe the M1 was designed to wound more so then to kill , since it took 3 men out of action ,the one who got shot and the 2 to carry him at least thats what i was told by 2 different Veterans , I am no expert on M1 although i had a few and i still have the step by step book on how to convert an M1 to an M2
