Using Small Car For Hunting

I once carried for 150 miles a gutted mule deer buck on the back seat folded down of my 1969 Volkswagon! No problem at all. That was in 1970.

I put a gutted whitetail doe on the front seat of my VW Rabbit. I put its front hooves on the dash and put the seatbelt on it . Then drove around with it:).

I used a mini van for the first few years, it worked great other than a few ground clearance problems a couple of times.

In my much much younger years I and my bud Marty would drive my parents 1974 Olds 98 around the gopher field with one of us standing thru the sunroof plinking away.

I’ve got a ‘79 Olds 98 and it has a trunk large enough to fit a moose. GM spent millions of dollars redesigning the C body cars so that they would be much smaller then their predecessor. This means that your ‘74 Olds 98 was likely large enough to hide a small car in the back!!

I took a black bear out with it sitting on the passenger seat of a Honda CR-90, I tied the front paws over my shoulders and to my belt.

I had a black bear on one occasion and a deer another time in the trunk of my 1971 Toyota Corona. Then I went big time and bought a 1982 Datsun 210 station wagon. I could sleep in the back and brought my first mainland deer home on the roof rack of that one.

When I killed my first deer a little 3x3 whitetail many many years ago my father only had a car.
We put it on top of the trunk and ran rope from its feet through the back windows to the seat belts.
So yes it's doable ,biggest downfall of car hunting is severely limiting areas you are able to access.

Years ago I hauled my first white tail taken with my compound bow out with my Honda Civic hatchback with the deer wrapped up in a tarp in the back. You can get a lot of animal in the back of a hatchback with the seats down!

Yep, hauled several black bears out in my Chevette back in the 80's.

Toyota Tercel actually had a cavernous trunk. With fold down rear seats it probably had as much room as my current Subaru Forester - big whitetail buck no problem.

Just curious to know what some of you guys may have managed to shove into a small car. A Friend of mine year after year gets a mule deer in the trunk of his Civic but Id like to see if anyone has managed to take out anything else. I'm wondering because my wife wants to buy a Mistubishi Lancer. At first I told her no but then she said we could get it in the Ralliart package. Then the wheels in my head started turning.

I was able to fit a good sized BC black bear in the back of my 97 Rav4 (much smaller than current generations). The bear was quartered, so I was able to stack the legs in the small back area without any trouble, and that was with the rear seats still fully-upright.
