Valmet : Where in God's name are they all hiding

Ok,

let's all get off our collective high horses...

I want to see how much everyone would personally pay for a .223, .308, x39 valmet? We pretty much all know 9+k is high, but let's see those numbers!

My cap would be 2000$ for an M88, and 2500$ for M78 models. (.223, .308 - don't care for x39 or 30-06).

Edit: added caveats to these prices: These include the fact that these guns are prescribed as non-prohibited and aren't being made anymore.

There was a time id pay 3k for a clean, non worn out Valmet in .308, just so i could make a PSL clone.

But life has put forth unexpected expenses that must be dealt with first V:I:

No more than $3200cad for a .308/5.56 (what i paid for one off gunbroker for a .308 one) and maybe 4-5k for an x39 one based off of prices I've seen on the EE over the last year and a bit when they rarely show up.
Couldn't justify spending any more than that when they consistently show up at that price on American gun sites

Indeed... If more people used gunbroker thru irg/pr/etc, we'd see more of these north of the border (and likely cheaper)... the "250$" import fee isnt too bad for something you really like/want in the USA.

No AK is worth more than a grand to me.

If AK's weren't prohib and the valmets were "just another AK", then I'd agree with your price... but alas, they are not.

I would drop 3k on a .308 vepr in a heartbeat if they were NR....

Install a set of nice rosy red Dragunov furniture on it. Paired with a PSO. My dream rifle.

We are not friends that must be another of your opinions......like no valmets are worth 10g.....but they are worth 9..!!!. That’s a fine line right there 1000 dollars between value or gouge.....I never chased anyone I sent a picture of me the day I got mine! if I’d shown up at your house that would be chasing....another foolish opinion. I have plenty of mags and have offered the ones I’m willing to part with the 100rnd drum I got after Xmas .....so what .
Opinions are like #######s everybody has one right what’s not cool about that?
Care to share what you payed for your valmet with cracked parts and a few common mags.
Your right in that I didn’t want to sell mine a year ago for 9G and yes I’ll try again so what.
Mine is flawless with no broken buttstock! Spare parts and a very rare possiblely only one in Canada drum mag which we can no longer import not a bad deal in my opinion. Lol

Not even close.

Kinda curious that a Canadian company never decided to make a variant of the Valmet. Anyone know if there was a specific reason for that?

Because Valmet (specifically M78 and Hunter) is name exempt by OIC. Make a copy anywhere but Finland, Valmet factory and it is and AK, a prohibited firearm.

IF they decide that Valmets in Canada are no longer predominantly owned by indigenous sustenance hunters, they can ban it again by OIC. IF. Not likely but possible.

oh, nice... probably cheaper than anything on the EE/Canada right now though

Yep even the one on gunbroker which looks a little nicer than mine is cheaper than what a fellow cgner i bought mags off of paid for his .308 a few years back, even after conversion and importation that would only run someone about $4600 cad all said and done
Much cheaper than prices up here

There was only a small number of these rifles brought into the country by one importer Stoeger Canada Whitby. Most of these rifles ended up in the far North used by Native Canadians for sustenance hunting and that’s the reason they did not get re classed as restricted as they stood up and fought to keep them non restricted. This is from the owner of Stoeger Canada that I spoke to in his office once when I ordered spare magazines for a M78 hunter in 30-06 I had. Very nice accurate rife with open sights. —-Dieseldog!

I did also notice that my 308 with open sights was a lot more accurate than what I was expecting!
