Lever Arms sold all the Valmet models ,as he imported them direct. They were reason price wise for what you got.
When the original restricts and probition's were introduced , the list was copied from the import probition made up by
the ATF in America. They didn't want any more foreign assault rifles imported, Canada took the list and restricted some
and prohibited other's and went around collecting them up!
That's when the guns of various manufacturer's disappeared. The Valmet Hunter was ok, but the Norinco direct copy wasn't!
Reason, the Norinco was on the ATF list and the Valmet wasn't
Anyone spending that kind of $$$ on a Valmet has more money than common sense!
has anyone noticed that in the current FRN #23247 for the valmet hunter they have removed the line "- Common in Northern communities where it was at one time supplied by the Federal Government." under remarks? intentionally i presume.
Yes, this came up some months ago. Had to be intentional. Can't be having that pesky history have any impact on today.
It wouldn't do to have to admit that the (then Liberal) gov of can handed out semi auto death dealing weapons of mass destruction to hunters, who didn't need them because we all know it only takes 1 shot to kill a herd of cariboo.
I hope someone at the Federal Court challenge can highlight the nonsensical nature of the 'reasoning' that was applied to the classification of this particular rifle, if only in comparison to how that reasoning process fails miserably as compared to all of the other banned firearms.
Why hasn’t there been a aboriginal firearms owner group formed. Yes, I know it’s outside the circle of trust. But, it would be another tool to keep these and other rifles legal. I’d join in a heartbeat as my family comes from the Last of the Caribou Eaters and Labradormuit

In truth?
While I can't speak for all Indigenous firearms owners, I have spoken with quite a few on this site and on the other G 0 C site.
Most have left forums like these and on our province's (BC) Fishing and Hunting internet forums , Canada's Indigenous peoples are rarely made welcome. Unfortunately CGN admin and mods do not take a pro active approach to anti indigenous posters, they never have and seem to have no desire to police this issue within the forums. I have been outspoken about it many times as I have watched good members here , leave the fold because the feel racially unwelcome.
That is the reality.
I find it funny how many folks that used to comment in my hunting threads, no longer do. Maybe that to is a reaction to me being bold and open about my family heritage and not tolerating the idiots who seemingly are allowed to spew their garbage in any thread they can.
How do you suggest reaching out to native groups and making them feel like they are welcome when this sites own admin and mods do nothing to enable an atmosphere of indigenous inclusion?
Every site I have been too is the same though and until that changes, don't expect Indigenous gun owners to care one bit about what the government bans..... they will simply not comply as they have always done LOL
