Vanguard S2 vs Tikka t3

I haven't seen any damaged trigger girds, but I have seen broken shrouds and enough pictures of the same to know that it isn't a myth. I can't help it if you're in senile.
Why has tikka changed their design in the new t3? And with their "improvements" they have added 40% to the price

You mad bro?? LOL

I can dig around on the web too and find issue with anything under the sun too. Tikka Changed their design like every other rifle manufacturer does and pretty much any thing that produced in the market today. 40% increase:bsFlag: ....maybe at the shop you frequent but I haven't seen that at my local shop
Keep spreading your half truths and personal attacks like you usually do here:wave:

Imma gonna correct myself... I have seen one broken T3 trigger guard. It cracked at the narrow part surrounding the magazine when it was removed from the stock.

Personal attacks????
At least tikka listened to the users and redesigned their rifle quite significantly. Not many others needed to.

Well, I'm going to guess he's referring to the part where you said he was "in senile", whatever that may mean. At least up until you edited your post 20 minutes after he replied.

Mmmmmm.... the redesign of the T3 to T3X isn't major. It's all drop in parts modifications. Quite minor, really. Major would be pre 64 to post 64 Winchester, or the M77 Mk1 to Mk2. Indeed, all improved parts on the T3X will fit onto the T3s.

I guess I'd point out that SAKO, Remington, Savage, Browning and Ruger have all had equivalent redesigns of more than one model of their rifles, including their flagship one, or discontinued old models and introduced replacements this century. Sometimes multiple times. If you're talking hunting arms, that pretty much covers all the major manufacturers except Winchester. So yeah, there's that.

Senile, denial. That's what happens when you don't check auto correct.
Rem 700, no change other than the j-lock which they corrected.
Win 70 major change... that they recently corrected.
Browning has slowly gone downhill.
The others I can't speak of.
Tikka t3 changes, opening the loading port, changing the recoil pad, getting rid of plastic and so on.
Weatherby, only change since they were introduced was the recall. Still the best bang for your buck.

Uhhhh... yeah, except for this. Kind of a big deal.

But as I say, to suggest the major hunting rifle manufacturers don't routinely do equivalent redesigns is total nonsense.

There are actual design changes, and then there is cheaper materials or manufacturing processes to cut corners. Remington use to use nice steel trigger guards/floor plates, now it's pot metal with paint. That's cutting corners.
And yes, sadly, they all seem to be doing things like that... except Howa/Vanguard so far.

To be fair, the bottom metal on my S2 looks like pot metal with paint to me. I'll have to have a closer look.

I don't blame the mfgs, they build to demand. If cheaply made rifles weren't wanted, they wouldn't sell like hotcakes. They make what the average consumer wants.

I know, you hit the nail on the head. Nobody knows what quality is anymore, they just want "cheap".
The majority of rifles I buy these days are all high polish blued metal and nice figured wood, 50+ years old and the same price as a new Axis...

Well, how Howa turns out a rifle you can pick up for Axis prices (paid $499 for mine) that's so much nicer is a mystery to me. As I say, unless weight or barrel length was a deciding factor I'd go with the S2 over the T3X any day. After using it a bit I find myself wondering why I paid $2k for a SAKO.

That's what I said when I got my first T3, and than further justified by the acquisition of my Howa 1500, now those are the only two modern hunting brands that sit in my locker, with a pile of nice milsurps. :) My Sakos and other premium rifles are long sold off.

I have a tikka t3 in .243 and love it. Its a tack driver if I do my part properly! If I can figure out how to upload my picture I would show one from my recent range trip.

I was out on the weekend tuning my new T3x stainless 243 as was my buddy with the S2 243 win. We both use federal blue box 100gr.We were shooting at 100yds.They both shot under moa. My group was .82 his I measured old school in the field it was 13/16" which is tad better than my group. They both shoot great and I had one in kryptek typhoon but I found it too heavy and long plus wanted a detachable mag and stainless. I paid 1k all in for the t3x and the vanguard was just over $600 .If money is an issue by all means buy the vanguard they shoot just as good.

I have both, both are accurate, both are what I would call a good rifle.
I like somethings on one or the other, some things I don't like on one or the other...
But that's personal preferences.
If I was spending money today I would buy the S2 as I think the Tikka is overpriced.

Here's my latest group with my V2 in .270

I have a T3 and an S2 in the house. Honestly, I’d go S2 every time. I like the Tikka and it’s a great rifle, I won’t knock it at all. In fact, it has a better factory trigger than the S2 but that’s about it for what I like better. And the safety on the S2 is what I like better about it, but that’s about it. But for me, that’s enough.
