Vortex's Warranty = Good | Vortex's Turrets = Not as good

Fack!!

When I would change magnification, the reticle would jump on my Viper PST! Also the reticle cant a little from the loose of the mag ring when turning. Weird.
Got the scope 3 months ago... Mounted last week on the rifle to find out.

E-mailed Vortex Canada...

Will see how it goes.

I think I remember hearing that Leupold has a pretty decent warranty as well.
Onagoth,

Give me few days (hopefully) and I will be able to share with everyone how good of a warranty does Leupold have. My M4 scope is exhibiting few bugs and quirks --- it could also be the operator (time will tell) ;)

I emailed Leupold today with questions and will keep you Ladies/Gents updated as I do all the necessary hoop jumping.

Also it's great to companies sticking to their warranty... it's easy to put few things on their webpage but hearing they actually stick to it is VERY important to a costumer like myself... Thanks for all the Vortex information!

No problems with my Vortex pst functions flawlessly and for the price v.s. glass quality bells and whistles you can NOT beat it.

Very good service!! No questions asked. Fast communication.

Defective scope got shipped to Vortex Canada. Will get a brand new one from Vortex USA next week or so when shipment arrive.

Wow.

:)

I believe this one will be inspected carefully before shipping. Hehe...

********* UPDATE *********

So I just came back from the range today with the scope after it had been sent down to the States. It came with a letter saying there was nothing wrong with the turrets or edge distortion and sent it back to me (express post, much appreciated). The only problem with the whole process other than the turrets (which isn't really a waranty thing) was the fact they didn't return my CRS zero stop shims. I'll have to call them and get some more.

Anyway, like I said, just came back from the range and confirmed my fears; the turrets track in a circle, not a square. Basically, the windage would not track the whole 10 mils in each direction unless the elevation was centered. When I cranked the elevation all the way up and turned the windage, there was little resistance and the reticle did not move. When I turned the elevation down after making the windage adjustment, the reticle moved in a diagonal, following the scope tube I imagine.

Even though I didn't waste my time or money sending rounds down range this time, I'm absolutley 100% sure the turrets do not work as they should and acording to Vortex USA's response, this is normal. Because this is the second PST 6-24x50 MRAD FFP I've had that didn't track properly, I'm convinced this is a design flaw.

I'd love to hear from others with the scope. I know this isn't a problem if you're not using the windage knob as much or making short range shots with the reticle centered, but for me, I'd rather have a scope that tracked properly than FFP which is why I'll be looking for another Sightron, or perhaps upgrading to the S&B ranks.

I am ignorant of rifle scope mechanisms for the most part but don't all scopes have a circle of adjustment opposed to a square? Being a tube and all...

I may be buying a scope and the viper pst looks good on the computer screen for what I am looking for.

If you're buying for looks, why not get a fake Leupold Mark 4 then? Most of us buy for function.

I know very little about the brands mentioned here, but I have never had much use for Chinese made stuff and it seems like these Vortex suffer from alot of problems. The Sightron IIIs that I have seen are very nice and clear and I have not heard much negative about them. It kind of adds up now, all the BS adds on the hunting channel, doesn't make up for poor quality materials or workmanship. I'll stay with the scope brands that I've used for years.

once again, not all Vortex stuff is made in China.. in fact most of it isn't. The Viper PST line has had some issues that even the regular Viper line doesn't suffer from.

Well we now know which Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 not to buy on the EE.

Cheers!!

At least I'm being honest. I sure as hell wish I could have had the same intel when I bought mine. I may as well keep it, I wont be needing all the elevation anyway so the problem kinda solves itself.

I bought a Razor HD more than a year ago for my 338lm, Iwas so impressed with it that I bought a PST for one of my 308's. It's still in the box but I'm crossing my fingers now hoping the PST will be as nice to me as my Razor HD.
