VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

I watched a guy hit the gong at 200m with five shots out of mine and it was the first time he had ever shot it:confused: It was also only about -20 that day:confused: I haven't done that yet but I must say they are pretty accurate!
Have you sighted in and confirmed your zero?

Latest version of the quick attach for the scope mount, version one didn't make the cut. This one folds at the rear. I allows for instant removal if required. All parts are EDM'd so the fit is TIT$. There is almost no side to side play and when mounted in the front it is extremely stable. I haven't got the ejection clearance machined in this one yet but I will try to do it tomorrow. I will keep you posted. Sorry that its not parkerized but these 16 hour days are getting to me.

I think I am almost there.

Here ya go, finished product. Range report in about a week since should try and spend some time with my family:confused:
Weight reduction, visual clearance slot and spent casing ejection channel added. As for stripper clips, SOL. Maybe on version four. Currently working on the barrel mount but Palinak has some new front hand guards in so until I see one I am not going to put to much time into it.

As usual, let me know what you think, getting close to production.
Cheers!

I like it. It might have a hole in the handle for a future gooseneck if you want. I like the idea of small side rails bolted on the side of the handle for a laser and flashlight. It might simply be drilled for such if the owners so wishes it. With a riser block, I can see a long scope being possible. drill for the stock bolt and have an appropriate bolt made up.

My longer scope's fit on as it is. It just sticks out over the hand guard a bit(higher mounting than the POS red dot). As for the goose neck, that is easy now that the mount folds to the rear and not the front, what size of rail are you thinking?, 2,3 or 5 inch? the smaller the better from a manufacturing standpoint.
And I am not allowed to talk about selling them anymore until it is in the Exchange forums or Dealer forums so don't ask, (couple slaps on the wrist ;))
Cheers

Yes, but not as easy as it sounds. We are looking into adding our own on the existing rail in the clearance slot, but this still needs to be affordable. If the European market pics this up than it will be standard. If I Was to sell you the existing one it would cost over 1000 dollars. Of course the repeats are cheaper but development still takes time (The one in the pics), I agree in the benefit of BUIS but if you can remove the whole system in 25 seconds and the original is still there I somewhat question the need. Nonethess it is coming, it is alot more work than even I thought. You cant just fit a product to one gun, because of manufacturing tolerance. You have to make it to one gun and then fit it to everyone you can get your hands on just to try and establish tolerance. I am thinking about doing a free online seminar(hopefully on Gunnutz) about using measuring tools (mic, vernier, indicator) just to get some extra help and a bit of educating.
