VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

This is common problem if you have a CSA manufactured in 2013 (there maybe other years but this is the worst year to my knowledge). It is likely that if you have a CSA it is over gassed and will need to be sent to Movie arms for warranty.

I have a spare complete bolt bolt but they are not cheap.

My CSA had to be sent in for broken bolt same as yours and a cracked carrier. Since I have recieved back from Movie arms the gun has seen at least 1000 rounds no issue.

Does anybody know if the new Canadian warranty center (north salva or something cant remember the name) will sell replacement parts ?? I have a new CSA that im building into a AKM hybrid, ive only shot like 40rnds through the gun and so far ive had no issues. BUT all these stories about CSA's parts breaking has me worried because i doubt they will still recognize my warranty when they see ive modified the gun.

Rung Paisarn ###-001 (The name is edited out. ARE PEE ESS - 001.)

The ###-001 is an assault rifle manufactured by Rung Paisarn Heavy Industries of Thailand. It is an adaptation of the Czechoslovak Vz.58 with components from the M16A2. It was introduced during the Advanced Combat Rifle trials. 30-round detachable STANAG box magazine.

Hey I am in the lower mainland looking for an 858 for cheap that may be in bad condition barrel screwed up etc as long as bolt carrier is decent I'd be interested

Ok so how many 858/vz58/fsn series rifles do you guys think we have in Canada? There was an article back when the registry was out stating there are about 7400 in Canada...
That number just seems way too low now in 2016... I am guessing 20,000+...

Wondering what the real number is...

Wolverine Supply claimed to have imported more than 9000 CZ858. And I'm ready to bet that there is just as much CSA VZ58 kicking around

Is the .223 "safe" to buy now, so should I stick to the 7.62 x39? I like the .223 round a bit better, but the jamming problems are a turn off.
