VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

When I get my new one, I will definitely clean it right away. Did you guys disassemble the bolt all the way down to removing the extractor spring and firing pin?
Also, I seen the boiling water method. Do you guys only do this after shooting corrosive or do it once in a while? Corrosive or not, I plan on cleaning it after every use but just wondering how often you really go in depth to clean it all?

Thanks, so when I get my rifle for the first time should I do it though, as well as disassemble the bolt completely down to firing pin?

Hi I am new to this site, google brought me here because I am trying to get help for I have problem with my Sa vz. 58 Sporter Compact in 7.62x39mm. The rifle is Misfiring, No shot after squeezing the trigger although I heard the firing pin click, no dimple on cartridge primer left by firing pin impact, , according to owner's manual it could be the firing pin is busted or worn our striker spring. I am the second owner, the first owner told me he has only 100 rds through it (ummm) I just shot less than 30..he said he doesn't have any issue with it (yeah right!). any help and suggestion is highly appreciated..

I might have one at home, if you are interested shoot me a PM. Otherwise like tetra said, Wolverine would be my first phone call.

I got mine at Wolverine Supplies but that was last year. They don't have any on their site at the moment that I can see. Might want to email and ask them if it is normally stocked?
Heads-up that it was twice the price of a 5/30 banana mag.
