VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

    Votes: 62 2.9%

Hahaha. With my resolution, when you said "that guy on the right is big" I only saw the guy that was second from the right.

"He looks kinda big" I said to myself.

Then I scrolled the window further to the right.

Hahaha, I love the expression on the 3rd guy from the rights face.

2006 AWARDS OF THIS THREAD

PIMP OF THE YEAR

AND MORE

Members,

We successfully finish a year of fight and victories,
and I would like to praise and glorify those from our ranks
whose distinguished work and sacrifices kept this thread alive.
My words cannot fully describe the respect I have for you and
your dedication in continuing and developing this wonderful thread
we all enjoy.

So, please allow me to present these nominations as
my vote only. I know there are some other opinions and
some of you may want to nominate different persons.
Here, I only exercise my democratic right to vote.
Please feel free to post your vote or opinions and do not feel influenced
by mine.

Therefore, I would like to suggest member
Palinek

pimp.jpg

keg_palinak.jpg

350913.jpg

for the title of
Offishal Pimp of the 58 consolidated thread.

He distinguished himself in the art of pimping the 58 family of rifles,
showing the endless possibilities of customizing the VZ’s.
Visiting his website, one can only wonder where TF he finds all
the toys and goodies for our beloved rifles.
I heard the rumor that he abducted some of Santa’s elves,
forcing them in slave labour to produce all that.
He brought the aftermarket possibilities at levels comparable
with domestic guns.
He also posted a very great amount of pictures and info related to 58’s.
Thank you, Palinek, for being such a dedicated member to our cause.

Next, please allow me to nominate member
Deckart

norc2.jpg

image_182079.jpg

for the title of
Grand Dragon of the 58 Order (with Double Brogues).
Deckart is a rich retired industrialist who is dedicated to the 58 cause
more than anybody else.

He is also a veteran of an elite spec-ops force too secret to be mentioned here
(much more secret than the Freemasons and more dangerous than Asian flu).
Those of you who know the significance of the handgun with double trigger
in his ever-changing avatar would probably understand what I’m referring to.

He owns half of the internet and an un-released
version of Google and he spends a considerable portion of his time and money
documenting anything 58 related.
The amount of info posted by him on the subject of the VZ’s can
make even the “Henry Kissinger” Library of the Cold War feel small and obsolete.

Also, Deckart was the real life inspiration of two characters in the movie
“Full Metal Jacket”: the door gunner (“get some… he, he… get some”) and
the drill sergeant Hartman (“…you are pukes…”).

He continuously looks for pics and info on the subject of VZ58: in archives,
periodicals, on the internet, in de-activated military facilities of the Cold War,
searching for truth and evidence to post it here,
so you guys can snack with your eyes in the monitors:
“munch, munch… woaaa, look at that gun, man… munch, munch… HONEYYYYY,
grab me another beer from the fridge…. munch, munch….. woaaaa, look at this one,
munch, munch….”

Deckart wrote a best selling book (“I own only one rifle” – out of print at the 4th edition).

He frequently changes his address (Behind the firewall, God bless America,
Delta off world colony, etc.), probably to avoid assassination.

Needless to say, he is the founder and curator of this thread.
Thank you for starting this wonderful thread, Deckart.

I would also like to suggest the nomination of member
Homemade Avatar
as the
Official Hunter with a VZ.
Member HA used a VZ 858 to kill a charging bear, showing to everybody the
versatility of this rifle and cartridge.
Ever since, the bear defense threads were never the same.

He was the first one on this site to answer one of my questions,
when the rest of you hard asses were playing the tough guys
and were not willing to talk to the new guy (me).
If I remember correctly, it was a vz question, relating to muzzle brakes.

He promotes the shooting sports and
introduces non-shooters to this magnificent activity.

I would like to present member HA with this wonderful wild life image
commemorating the hunting sports:
cormix.jpg

in the shape and size of his choice
(poster, wall-paper, tattoo, screen-saver, balcony flag, jacket embroidery
or other suitable form).
Thank you, HA, for being an outstanding member of this board
and an example for all of us.

I want to use this opportunity to deny some regrettable allegations
regarding the charging bear incident. According to these allegations,
military specialists analyzed pictures taken by paparazzi hidden in the bushes
and discovered a non-standard camo pattern on the seat of his pants which was not
there before the hunt.
Gents, I never heard a bigger lie than this.
This is a fabrication of those who want to divide us.
I officially protest against those allegations.

Last but not least, I like to mention
member Runcajs
runcajs.jpg

africa_war_08.jpg

for his dedication to the 58 cause.
His posts on this site are exclusively in the 58 consolidated thread:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=823961#post823961
Thanks for your devotion and your efforts.
Thanks for helping me and for putting up with my s**t so many times.

I suggest the nominees be allowed to wear their distinctive insignia, badges and medals
at the range, hunting, in official and un-official missions, on this website, in training,
surfing the net, at drinking parties, baby showers, night clubs, house warmings,
job interviews, bar fights, camping, medical check-ups, wherever they wish.

Thanks to everyone who ever posted in this thread.
Thanks to everyone who visited this thread.
Special thanks to the overseas team who provided us
with wonderful pictures, videos and info.

Please don’t let this legend fade away.
Happy New Year to everybody!
58 rocks!

I have now read the entire thread.
That took me a friggin' long time.
In any case, I have a few questions, pertaining to this picture!
What are the tactical advantages of the helmet on the far right?
How come you never see units equipped with them, and more of the "Spectra Helmet" style gear?
They wore helmets like this in a video game called Metal Gear Solid,
but I never understood the advantages and disadvantages.
Is that a radio piece or something? Is it an "extended ear" system for amplifying quiet sounds? Help!

Funky.
So what would the equipment wearing be wearing if they were using an extended ear system?
Would it be the aforementioned radio-style helmet, except with an extended ear in the helmet?
Or is it something radically different that is going to drive me up the wall and force me to get on a plane
and go to the Ukraine just to find out what the hell they put inside their helmets?! Pheew.

Crap dude! How long did that take you to do that?

I nominate Lector as Chief Praise Giver and sometimes Bottle Washer when we have one of our drunks. His ambition is to go to CZ/SK and pick up babes with guns. He goes AK crazy now and then, but has consider style and enthusiasm.

Oh, and he has the MOST active imagination on CGN, hands down. His subtext interpretation is most artistic.

Any definitive word on getting one of those "flare" launchers?

Also can someone post pics of how to mount an AK grip? I got a couple of bakelite grips in the mail the other day. I know others have done it but our search function blows..

Yeah, I need to do something about the these smallish grips also. I'm not sure why the grips are so small from the factory. Most of the Slavic guys are big and burly, with hands that match...heck....under the Red Banner they had the Western World trembling for 40-50 odd years after WW2.
So....can someone reminds us of the grip retrofit how to....:)

The M203 ain't real, but it sure fits flawlessly. The taper at the chamber end of the barrel holds the delta ring part of the M203 perfect, and the barrel clamp is the perfect size. After you tighten the two screws on the barrel band, it squeezes the barrel tight. In theory there should be something between the front sight and the barrel band to stop the launcher from sliding forward from recoil, but we'll see how it works.

I'm sure a real M203 would fit well too. You might need to make up some type of spacer to put on the barrel to take the full recoil of the launcher, instead of just the "lips" of the launcher against the receiver.

There are some great pics on this thread! Do they have plastic surgeons in CZ?
Either way I am there dude. I really like all the varient pics and the photos from Kevin B. What would the perfect iraqi car VZ look like? I would guess folding stock obviosly but a drum or big mag? would it be a bullpup? It should be as cheap and simple as possible so 1 rail is reasonable 5 or 6 is not.
Also what would make the VZ a better choice than an AK? or would it?
Most importantly how do I get a hold of that brunette? Sge probably is dating that huge guy with the cowboy hat though.

Welcome to our passtime. 190 pages of comments on this one...says something. I first bought one as a Royal FU to the Libs. It turned out to be a fun gun.
