I look at the picture and do you realy thing that the forlding stock is worth it or it's just for the Look Cool Factor?
thanks
I've seen your post only now.
So, if you still visit this thread, here's my answer:
All the folders reduce size (for backpacking, vehicles, etc).
None of them is as steady or strong as a regular stock.
The original VZ side folder:
-quick deployment,
-doesn't interfere with the mag.
AK underfolder on the VZ:
-large LOP (15.5" or so),
-it takes much longer to deploy,
-unfortunately it interferes with the mag (30 rounder has to be taken out of the gun so you can fold or unfold the stock

- remember that originaly it was not designed for VZ)
-very compact gun when stock folded (it practically blends in with the gun),
-Cool Looking Factor (IMO), it gives the gun the righteous "cold war" look
-it is the most suitable stock with high mounted optics.
I have put AK underfolders on a lot of guns that I own(ed).
I replaced the side folder piece with an AK underfolder on guns like:
-a lot of 10/22's with the Butler Creek stock (It clears the magazine on this one!!!),
-Ruger mini14 and mini30 (various brands of stocks)
-SKS.
I have seen it done by others on guns like: AR7, M305, AR180.
